Make sure the air filter is properly installed if it is the top cover.
make sure the chain is properly installed if it is the side cover. also make sure the chain is not too tight, as they could put the bar at the wrong angle

Part of the chain came off track

if it is a pole chain saw , and the chain came off, it is installed the same as any chain saw
undo the cover over the drive end , remove the blade and chain, loosen of the screw that adjusts the blade length
put the chain back on the blade , put the blade and chain back on the machine , replace the cover and do the nut up till it just touches the cover
adjust the screw until the chain is at a position where if you pull the chain off the bar the inside guide teeth are about halfway out of the bar guide
tighten up the cover nut

Have a 137e husqavarna saw put new carb on and just fires and dies. Any help would be appreciated

Try when idle to adjust the carb settings.There has to be 2 screws to adjust the low and high.The low is for when the saw is in low at speed or when is not in use for cut.When you pull the handle to start cut then the adjust the high one at max speed.

I was using the saw as a chain saw last weekend to cut up an old tree stump when the chain came off. I don't know how to access it to put it back on and don't have a user manual. The saw belonged to my...

You will have to remove the cover on the side the chain bar goes into. There should be one or two nuts holding the cover on the side. The is also a chain tension adjuster you may have to loosen to put it back on. Make note of the direction of the teeth on the chain. It is an directional chain. The tension adjuster is usually a flat head screw on the front side right beside the chain bar.

Unless it is a really old saw, manuals are available from most manufacturers for free download. See if you can locate a brand name and model number.

Cover that holds downthe bar,over flywheel and tightens the

Remove the cover, bar and chain and clean averything. Check the brake band to make sure it isn't broken. Put everything back together and check again. It sounds like worse case it is a worn sprocket or bar.

How to install a new tension screw on a husqavarna 365

I have never done this but with the IPL as a guide it looks pretty simple.
Use care; it is easy to trigger the chain brake and is most difficult to reset with the cover off the saw.
Remove the clutch cover (brake off)
Husqvarna 365 IPL example (may not be your saw)
http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/usa/1999/I99000/I9901064.PDF
Detail A (clutch cover)
remove 2 each - 503 21 28-10* screws
remove 537 01 68-01, all parts now accessible.

Find your IPL here:
HusqvarnaUSA.com
http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/download-manuals/
Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – for use with IPL
06 1500198
06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000)
15 = week produced - March
00198 = 198th unit Husky produced that week

POULAN CHAIN SAW MODEL 1420 ''Chain came off track

Chain is probably stretched. SAFETY FIRST. Electric saw, make sure power is unplugged. Gas saw, make sure sparkplug wire is removed. Remove the cover where the bar is attached to the saw. U should see an adjustment screw for chain tension and one or more bar lockdown screws. Loosen the lockdown screws and turn the tension adjustment screw to permit the bar to slide back toward the motor. Put the chain back in the bar track all the way around. Adjust the tension screw to tighten chain enough you can't pull it out of the track at any spot. Slide the chain by hand at least one complete revolution feeling for any rough spots. If it moves freely, turn the tension screw enough to tighten the chain properly. Correct tension should allow you to pull the chain appx. 1/16 to 1/8 inch from the bar. Tighten the lockdown screws, replace the cover. Rotate chain by hand a couple of revolutions again to check for smoothness again before starting the saw.
