Hi...I had the same problem and as most & could not solve the problem directly. But ....I did find a way to get around it and leave the Windows player (11) in the trash where it belongs. My solution is simple. First dowmload and install the "VLC"media player and the "GOM" player. They are both free. When you want to play a music or video file that is streamed through a WMP just do the following. Try to open the stream in the Windows player first. . When it won't open left/right click on the player to access "Properties tab" . There you'll find an address of the stream you are trying to open. Copy this address (left/drag click).......open either the GOM or VLC player......select "File" then paste the address (URL) you copied from the properties window in the Windows media player. Although both players will play Windows files the GOM privides a higher quality video.

every single time i try to play a song...a red X appears nxt to the songs and a box saying that windows media player cannot play this file. how do i fix this?
