Question about ASUS Computers & Internet
Asus P5SD2-VM gave the same problem for me. (Actually the motherboard was replaced 2 times due to audio failure within the last 7 months (bought in Jan 2009).)
Initially it wouldn't install the Realtek driver on XP SP2.
I got a solution from this site:
which worked for me.
i.e. from 'Device Manager' under 'System Devices' remove the 'Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio'. DO NOT do scan for hardwaer changes. Install the Realtek Audio driver downloaded from the Asus website. In may case it worked. But later it failed as you said. And the motherboard had to be replaced to get back audio.
