Question about Canon Digital Rebel XSi Digital Camera
I have a Canon Rebel xsi. I have had the same problem with the camera "the flash unit pops up regardless of the lighting conditions" In full daylight the camera will not operate without wanting to use the flash. The first two times I had it in for service, Canon told me they repaired the problem. The third and last time I took it in, they told me they replaced the entire flash unit. But, now it is doing it again, and the warranty period is up. I do not want to spend money servicing the camera if I am destined to scrap it.
Sounds like a physical problem with the camera.itself. I would be in contact with Canon and let them know that there is a continuing problem.

Sorry to hear about all the trouble you've had. I own a XSI and so far, have experienced no problems. At this point, I would recommend you contact Canon corporation. I've include a link to Canon's site and to EOS Rebel XSI section. I would write a nice e-mail to email to the company support. You should be able to find a link there. Also, I would advise you check the knowledge base (click on "Support by Email" link) and see if others have experienced similar problems.
In terms of your problems and experience, you had this problem before and you did everything you could (at the time the warranty was still good) to get it fixed. The fact that you are continually getting the same problem even after repair was done should give you some base for justifying free repair, despite the fact that the warranty period has run out. Remember, be polite and professional in your tone, but also be sure to state to Canon that you are "not satisfied" and kindly ask for some resolution. Also, it probably wouldn't hurt to mention the fact that you are a loyal Canon customer and have been for a long time! :)
