Replace entire primer bulb assembly. You might replace hose going to it as well. Extended sunlight kills plastics.

Priming echo BP251 liaf blower

Hi Norman:
I'd check the routing of the fuel lines.
Tank to carb (this is the line with the filter on it)
carb to bulb (suction side)
bulb to tank (return line)
If the connections appear correct but it does not pull gas, check the filter to make sure it is clean, and you can try reversing the connections on the bulb.
Hope this helps.

I changed the primer bulb on my echo srm-210 trimmer but it will not prime fuel in the bulb. The grummet the three lines go thru on the gas tank is not sealing the lines tight. Is this the cause?

If there is adequate fuel in the tank to completely cover the fuel filter than I expect the bulb to pull the fuel through the carburetor.

If you are able to determine the fuel intake hose (the hose that connects to the filter in the tank) to the carburetor than removing the hose from the carburetor and close off the inlet connection to the carburetor with your finger,

You should be able to achieve a vacuum that as you stroke the bulb that it eventually stays down and will only return the to the normal position when you release your finger from the carburetor inlet hose connection. This will leak check the bulb and carburetor. If this is successful drawing a vacuum than there is most likely a leak in the hose between the filter in the tank and from where you had disconnected the hose from the carburetor. Lowes and home depot provide a kit with a wire that snakes through the grommet allowing for this hose to be replaced..

If you cannot achieve a vacuum than the one way valves in the bulb prime are defective or an air leak through a check valve, metering diaphragm or fuel pump. A carburetor repair/replacement is likely

Why won't my chainsaw prime?

if no gas will enter priming bulb at all I see only a few possible things for this
(1) gas line broken/melted
(2) filter looks good but has internal plug
(3) primer bulb has a small crack in it (most common )

Echo Cs-400 chainsaw. Standing the carb up with the sliver vent on top which fuel line goes to the 90° inlet on the bottom and which line from the primer bulb to the carb?

The lengths of the line and,or the bends in the line . I would say the line from the bulb would go the carb since it is used to prime or,choke the carb.

Both my Echo line trimmer and Stihl hand held blower. No fuel in the bulb on both, I suspect bad fuel. If so, how do I fix?

Check INSIDE the fuel tank. It is possible the fuel line inside the tank has deteriorated and the filter broke off. That would cause fuel line to FLOAT in the tank instead of lie on the bottom. This could easily be the cause of no fuel in primer/purge bulb. You probably need to:

Install new fuel filter..........Install new fuel Lines.......Install new primer bulb........Clean carburetor.

So in some respects, you are probably correct....no fuel filter equals bad fuel entering carb (but if none in bulb, doubtful much fuel (dried up maybe ) in carb.

Poulan 2ooo chainsaw not pumping gas to carburator how to fix

Check the fuel filter, air filter, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Remove the carburetor, clean it inside and out with spray carburetor cleaner. Check the lower chamber diaphragm for flexibility and no damage. Check the impulse passage that comes from the crankcase, through gaskets and heat insulator, to the base of the carburetor. Does the primer bulb pump fuel into itself after several pumps? Hope some of this helps!

Need manuel to show how gas lines are run to carb. & pump bulb

HOW TO CHANGE FUEL LINE ON McCULL0UGH 2014 CHAIN SAWS.

I have successfully changed the input fuel line by purchasing Tygon tubing from a local lawn equipment dealer. I did not see the box he cut this from, but the tubing I bought measures 0.190" outside diameter. I gave him a piece of the old tubing and he matched it up. A 18 inch piece cost me $1.19.

The routing of the fuel line involves three pieces, one piece from the fuel priming bulb to the carburator is 3 inches long, a piece from the fuel priming bulb to the gas tank is about 4 inches long and the piece from the fuel tank is about 7 inches long. The priming bulb sucks air and fuel from the carburator and dumps it back into the gas tank. Therefore, when you press this repeatedly, gasoline will eventually appear in the bulb when the gas line to the carburator is full of fuel. The bulb may not completely fill, there will always be a little air in the bulb.

The fuel line in has a filter on the end within the fuel tank. If you find this has broken off, as I did, you have to turn the tank upside down and shake the filter and any pieces of broken fuel line out of the tank.

Replacing the fuel lines within the carburator compartment is easy if you remove the carburator first. To work on this you must remove the two screws holding the carburator to the engine. You may need to use a small screw Torx driver, although on my chainsaw, there was also a long straight slot on the head. The line from the priming pump to the carburator goes to the left hand line on the carburetor (as viewing from the top with the blade extending away from you. The input line will go onto the right line on the carburator.

The two lines into the fuel tank are located in the middle of the tank left to right and one about 1/2" above the other. The upper hole is for the fuel intake line. The fuel line passes through this hole and a second hole visible within the tank fill hole.
This was the trickiest hose to replace. How I did it was to use a piece of #12 copper electrical wire stripped out of its insulation. This was fed through the 7-inch Tygon tubing piece until it emerged from the far end. I also found it necessary to put a bull nose end on the Tygon tubing in order to get it to feed into the tank hole visible from the tank fill hole. Why? I don't know, but after 20 minutes of trying to feed the hose (both naked and with the electrical wire inside) into that second hole, I gave it a bull nose on the tubing by careful cutting with sharp scissors and using a sanding block. Perhaps McCullough has a special tool to do this, but a call to their 800 number could not get a knowlegible answer from the parts person.

After the Tygon tubing shows up in the tank fill hole, I pulled it further with needle nose pliers and was able to pull the copper wire back out of the tubing. I then cut the bull nose lead I put on the Tygon tube and installed the filter onto it. I found that a little oil on the nozzle and the carburator lines makes the tubing easier to slip on. The stuff the filter and Tygon tubing back into the tank fill hole and towards the front end of the tank so that it drops into the bottom portion of the tank. After attaching the intake line to the carburator, use the needle nose pliers to pull excess line into the tank.

Reassemble the carburator to the engine and you'll be good for another 10 years of happy chainsawing!
