Re: dryer

Almost certainly the capacitor is defective.{small plastic sylinder with with 2 wires connected). if it runs after you turn fan with hand, thats your problem.

Click sound at power button and start button should get it going. If not then Dryer drum is not turning.

I have a 6 year old dryer mod # teds840q0 , and was drying a load and when I went to start another load nothing would happen. when you hit the on off switch it will click and nothing. replace switch

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

The start switch could be defective, but it sounds like your motor has failed. I would let the dryer cool down, and see if it starts..if it starts again. i suggest you check you dryer vent lines for clogs, and also from the wall to outside of the house.

My dryer won't turn on it works great but suddenly I can't turn it on. When I push the button to start there is nothing.

The dryer functions are all impaired if the motor doesn't run. The heating circuit is activated only when the motor runs because power to the heating element is routed through the motor centrifugal switch. The problem here is likely a blown thermal fuse because power to the motor is routed to it. The motor cannot therefore run if the thermal fuse is blown.

Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse on the blower housing. The blower housing is located on the front left bottom of the dryer cabinet if the dryer has the lint filter on the front or at the rear left bottom if the lint filter is located on the top of the cabinet.

Dryers with lint filter on the front.

Dryers with lint filter on the top.

Hi welcome to Fixya

You must pop off the top of the dryer then remove the front after the front is off you can remove drum .
The belt goes around the drum and the motor pully and under the tentioner wheel after you get belt on replace front and top.

Thank You For Useing Fixya

Either the top pries up or at the bottom of the front panel you'll see 2 screws. If screws at bottom take out and lift off be sure to disconnect door switch wires before removing door completly. If it's pry top up use flat screw driver at about inch and a halh in from edges pop the top up and open then inside front panel toward top you'll find 2 more screws take them out and front panel should come off. Good Luck

Dryer hums when start switch is turned

you don't have to "pop" the top off the dryer. the only thing you can do to possibly solve this problem without a professional is to:
  • tape down the door switch with strong tape, or have someone else hold it down.
  • physically turn the tub inside the dryer while pushing the start switch.
  • this will hopefully loosen whatever has the motor stuck.
if this does not work then the motor in the dryer might be bad or going bad, especially if a burning smell is present when you hear the humming sound.

Dryer does not turn on

Sounds like the motor relay is not functioning. Sometimes the motor will work if the button is pushed but will stop when the button is released. This is caused by a loose wire at the motor or a bad motor relay.
