I am having a acer al1714 since january 06,yesterday suddenly in the morning when i turned on the computer ,all the colours on the monitor were pinkish red and everything that is supposed to be white got reddish,i disconnected the monitor checked the cables, there was no bent pin, then turned off and restarted the computer still all colurs were pinkish,i thought may be there was some problem in the vga card of my computer,i connected monitor to another computer still the problems remains same, everything else is okay accept the colours,i am using this lcd monitor for last 23 months without any problems on windows xp sp2 with its native resolution
What is the problem ???????? please help me i will be thankful
The lamps have not failed as you believe Steve. If they fail, then a protection circuit inside will shut them off all together.
Acers have a habit of capacitors failing. This in turn sends dodgy power to the inverter circuit and through to the lamps.
This is not a design flaw, it's just age. Capacitors can die early of course, but it's not common for them to go before the warranty period is up at least. Normally 3-5 years is what you can expect from them.
If you understand electronics then the job will be easy, if not have your local TV tech give it the once over before real damage is done.
