The 3 amp is 12 Volt protection for the control board. If that fuse is blowing instantly, then you have a short in the 12 Volt system somewhere. More than likely it is somewhere between the Thermostat and the control unit. Check to see if you have 12V at the thermostat. If so, then disconnect the red wire from the thermostat and the red wire at the control unit. At the control unit side, use an Ohmmeter to see if you have continuity with ground. If so, that wire is the culprit. If not, reconnect the red wire and continue to the next wire. Do this until you find the wire that is shorted to ground. Of course, the ground wire will not be checked.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

I HAVE DOMETIC DUO-THERM PENGUIN ROOF AIR CONDITIONING ON RV. THE UNIT WILL RUN WHEN PLUGGED INTO ELECTRICITY BUT WHEN GENERATOR POWERED THE AC UNIT KILLS THE GENERATOR ENGINE. WHAT COULD IT BE?

What size & type generator? On start up the AC unit can draw as much as 17-18 amps in some cases, and if your generator is not designed for a quick draw like that it will die.

I purchased a dometic roof top ac unit mdl#641515.301c0, however on the website i cannot find install manual or user manual

What part about installation are you having problems with, and what are you installing it on? Do you have both upper (roof) unit & lower ( at ceiling) ? Is it a ducted system or blowing directly from ceiling assy?
Check this link as well , you may find 6300 series is same install.

I have a duo therm model 57915531. i have checked the breakers all the fuses and the thermostat. i have found a 3 amp fuse in the control panel of the roof unit. this fuse was blown. i replaced it and it...

That unit has a thermostat I believe and 12 or 24 volts to power it. The 3 amps tells me it may be either line or low voltage, see manual. the fuse blows due to a short in the control circuit, a transformer if low voltage.

Was working fine then just stopped runningm didn't slow down or make any noise just stopped like a fuse blew. Is there a reset button on main unit on roof

Hi, there are no reset buttons on the roof, but find the breaker panel in your RV, and you will find a breaker that is most likely tripped. You will need to reset it by turning it off and back on very firm. It should be about a 20 amp breaker. On the roof , there may also be a disconnect box with either a breaker or fuses also. Check the one inside the RV first, it is there somewhere. If it continues to trip the breaker, we will have to check to see if you have a problem with the compressor, condenser fan motor up top, and blower motor inside to see what is taking place. You may have a dirty coil up top that needs a good washing out as this will cause the unit to have high internal head pressures and will take out the compressor and keep tripping the breakers. Keep me posted on what you find and please don't forget to rate me as I know you will be kind. I will check back in with you on this to see how you are doing. It is 11:00p.m. here, so I will check on you in the a. m. This should solve your problem if you remove the top and make sure the condenser motor is running along with the compressor. Then kill the power again to wash this coil out. Please keep me posted.

My roof air blew the 20 amp breaker eleven times over the weekend.we were in the sun and had 95' air temps.

You are making near impossible demands from your roof air ... cut down the expectation a little bit ... let your AC try to keek up.

How difficult / expensive is it to install a heat strip in a Dometic roof top AC? The unit I have has a mark on the knob for heat, but I suspect it was never installed.

Fairly easy. The only thing that you must figure out is how many amps the heat strips will draw. Make sure the fuses and the breaker switch can handle them. And be aware your electric bills will shoot up.

Analog thermo.stat control kit

Have you tried removing the RH wire connected to the thermostat and try it ? This might rule out furnace as short in system. If it does the same, put RH- (heat) back on and try removing RC-(cool) , if it doesn't pop the fuse, you may have isolated the problem.?
