I plug my player in as per manual. the screen lights up and a battery icon with a flashing lighting bolt shows on screen. my computer sounds a tone. the view screen on my computer monitor states "not connected". i can leave it connected for hours and it still doesn't work. sometimes without touching the system the computer gives a similar tone and the battery icon disappears from the player's screen. this unit is less than a year lod.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have a 20g dj dell player that I really love. However, I can no longer get it to turn on. Everytime I plug it up to charge, the blue light comes on monentarily and then goes off. It comes on and then...

The lithium battery has no more charge. The batteries used in these sort of devices years ago can only be recharged about 500 times. You can see the exact number in the user manual. Just buy a new battery, shipping should take about 10-12 weeks

We may be in luck - I actually found an owner's manual for this one. Did you run the installation CD first? If you don't, Windows will load it's own, possibly wrong, drivers.

Make sure you didn't accidentally press the player's lock button:
The keys on the Dell DJ Ditty have been locked.
Unlock the keys by pressing in on and holding the
Volume/Scroll/Select dial until the lock icon disappears.

Reset method - Insert the end of a thin object, such as a straightened paper clip, into the reset button (near the headphone jack).

Also make sure your operating system is Windows XP - it won't work on anything before or after.

The Musicmatch service that this player was tied to was discontinued in October 2007, so your going to have problems even if we get it working again. Use Windows Media Player 10 instead (downgrade if you have the current version 11 installed).

Let me know how everything turns out.

My Dell MP3 Player Won't Charge

I had the same problem for weeks. Very frustrating. Try the following as it brought my pocket dj back to life. I found that (while plugged into an AC adapter) by inserting a paper clip in the hole on the bottom (reset button) and holding it there for 5 secs it would power cycle the dj then the charging icon would appear in the top left corner, however it did go away after 5 icon flashes. I did this repeatedly. I noticed that every time I pwr cycled it , I got more icon flashes and it would charge for a bit longer. Finally it charged completely. Weird but this is what worked for my player.
