Safety shoes should have a stamp on the sole "ESD protection". Basically, footwaer with a sole made of polyurethane is ESD protected. The protection level depends on working conditions.

If it doesn't say, it probably isn't. I'd say it isn't.

How to get a computerto boot when it only has a black screen

Hello there everybody
Have you ever turned on your computer and hear that it was booting but all you got is a black screen and nothing else?
Well here is a simple tip that i have used on literally hundreds of support calls
(1) First when this happens power down the computer.
(2) unplug the computer from the wall and remove the power cord from the computer.
(3). open up the case of the computer.
(4). find the wires from the power supply going to the mother board
and remove it from the mother board.
(5) now press in on the button that u use to turn on the computer for
20 seconds this allows for the ESD to be released , if you have a
reset button do the same for this button too.
(6). replace the power supply cord onto the motherboard and plug in
the power cord back into the computer
(7) plug in the computer and start up the computer .

Now you should be good to go the reason that this
Happens is that Esd builds up in the system and overtime it will
prevent the monitor from displaying. but once the esd has been
discharged the (PROPER) WAY then it is taken care of ok

I hope this tip helps you all out
Best regards Michael
How to open case on acer v5600gt

Here's a place to start: It's not your EXACT model but it will give you a general idea. Mind the tiny screws, use ESD protection, take pictures. Laptop's are easy to disassemble, it's the reassembling that can be a problem. Group screws of the same type.

How do i find out witch display driver to disable so i can install new video card

You don't need to disable any driver, unplug, use ESD protection, install Graphics Card, move the monitor cable to the new card,(you may have to boot on the old monitor connection and install driver), install the driver for the new card and reboot plug into the new card. Do your windows updates to obtain the latest driver. You can open the Device Manager, open Display adapters and disable the Intel graphics adapter. Is it a PCI or AGP Graphics Card? Remember: with a Aftermarket Graphics Card it requires more Power/Watts, you should consider a PSU upgrade. You didn't post the Make, Model Graphics Card, usually there is a Min. Power Spec. for the card listed on the box.

Hi, i have an advent t9408 thay i bought off a friend with now hdd or ram so iv added 2 gb ram and a spare hdd i had, now it will not boot at all not even to the bios option screen, i managed to get it to...

First read articles on "ESD".

Look for any warnings or post messages during boot sequence

1. Verify the RAM are the correct modules for your computer.
2. If the RAM is correct then remove 1 stick of RAM
3. Check the jumper settings on the HDD to verify Master, Slave, or Cable Select.
4. Remove the hard drive and verify the system will post.
5. Reinstall the HDD and boot to Bios and verify all devces are detected.
6. You might reset the Bios with the J2,3 to the J1,2 jumper.on the mother board.

My nokia 2760 will not turn on. it shows only - test mode - on the screen. what is wrong with he mobilphone

This solution provide some simple tricks on how to diagnose this problem, if encountered that only test mode showed on the LCD screen display, you may try to replace a new battery on the device. If after changing the battery doesn't fix the problem, you may refer to the solution below for it shows the certain components that needs to be remove or replace to fix the problem.
Try to remove or replace the ESD protection diode. This components were composed an ESD protection diode and a capacitor and it result to test mode problem if being damaged.
Hope it helps, if so do rate the solution
Good Luck

My interior light wont go off. I turned the car off and locked the door but nothing is working.

Wait for 1 minute. If light still doesn't go out then it is either a bad door latch or possible body control module(bcm)
Sometimes if you unplug the bcm and wait a minute and plug it back in it may work again. Sometimes they lock up.

Body Control Module Replacement Removal Procedure

Notice: Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage many solid-state electrical components. ESD susceptible components may or may not be labeled with the ESD symbol. Handle all electrical components carefully. Use the following precautions in order to avoid ESD damage: • Touch a metal ground point in order to remove your body's static charge before servicing any electronic component; especially after sliding across the vehicle seat. • Do not touch exposed terminals. Terminals may connect to circuits susceptible the ESD damage. • Do not allow tools to contact exposed terminals when servicing connectors. • Do not remove components from their protective packaging until required to do so. • Avoid the following actions unless required by the diagnostic procedure: - Jumpering or grounding of the components or connectors. - Connecting test equipment probes to components or connectors. Connect the ground lead first when using test probes. • Ground the protective packaging of any component before opening. Do not rest solid-state components on metal workbenches, or on top of TVs, radios, or other electrical devices.
Important: You must perform the new body control module (BCM) setup when replacing the BCM. Refer to Control Module References .
  1. Pull the left instrument panel (I/P) compartment access hole cover from the I/P trim pad.
  2. Press to release the cam lock. Disconnect the upper electrical connector from the BCM.
  3. Remove the left I/P insulator fasteners.
  4. Rotate the lamp. Remove the lamp from the insulator.
  5. Remove the left I/P insulator.
  6. Disengage the data link connector (DLC) retainers. Remove the DLC from the I/P trim pad.
  7. Use a plastic trim tool to remove the ignition switch bezel.
  8. Pull the I/P accessory trim plate rearward slightly for access to the steering column filler. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  9. Remove the I/P steering column opening filler screws.
  10. Pull the I/P steering column opening filler rearward. Remove the I/P steering column opening filler.
  11. Press to release the cam lock. Disconnect the lower BCM electrical connectors.
  12. Remove the BCM screws.
  13. Remove the BCM.

I lose my clock and date settings whenever i switch off my Acerpower desktop pc

I think you need to change your cmos battery. The instructions recommend an anti static wrist strap, It is the correct way but i have changed without but that was my choice.a very common battery is A coin-cell battery (CR2032)

To replace the CMOS battery, follow these steps:

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage components. Perform the procedures described here only at an ESD workstation using an antistatic wrist strap and a conductive foam pad. If such a station is not available, you can provide some ESD protection by wearing an antistatic wrist strap and attaching it to a metal part of the computer chassis.
Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the computer. Disconnect the computer's power cord from the ac power source (wall outlet or power adapter).
Remove the computer cover.
Locate the battery on the board.
With a medium flat-bladed screwdriver, gently pry the battery free from its connector. Note the orientation of the "+" and "-" on the battery.
Install the new battery in the connector, orienting the "+" and "-" correctly.
Replace the computer cover.

hope this helps please rate :)

Soldering iron support

Anti-Static Protection: If you're interested in soldering a lot of static-sensitive parts (e.g. CMOS chips or MOSFET transistors), more advanced and expensive soldering iron stations use static-dissipative materials in their construction to ensure that static does not build up on the iron itself. You may see these listed as "ESD safe" (electrostatic discharge proof). The cheapest irons won't necessarily be ESD-safe but never the less will still probably perform perfectly well in most hobby or educational applications if you take the usual anti-static precautions when handling the components. The tip would need to be well earthed (grounded) in these circumstances.
