Question about Samsung HLN617W 61" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Samsung HLN617w won't turn on

We experienced a power outage, but the t.v. was not on at the time. The t.v. is connected to surge protection. When power returned, t.v. had three lights on solid in front and a fan was running. It would not respond to any power buttons or remote control. I turned off power by unplugging. Fan stopped. I left power off for several hours, powered back up with same result. any suggestions?

How old is the surge protector you used? Because they only last for so long and can absorb so many surges. I hate to say it but it sounds like your TV sustained a power surge.

Well if a technician can isolate what part has effected then they will be able to replace it. If not, you might need a new TV.

I recently replaced my Intermatic EJ500 with a new unit, I noticed it works perfectly fine for one day then the batteries that control the timer drain completely the following day, what could it be?

Line voltage usually controls the timer functions when properly wired until a power outage occurs; then battery power takes over until utility power is restored. Should utility power be off for an extended period of time, eventually the battery will drain completely
Double check to make sure you wired your wall switch timer properly.
Make sure there are no loose wiring connections.
Even though you purchased a new replacement timer wall switch, it could be a manufacturer's defect.
Has your home electrical system experienced any signal spikes? Electronic components are very sensitive to impulse spikes/surges and can be damaged very easily.
If you are experiencing surges or spikes, perhaps investing in a whole house surge protection system (Intermatic IG series) would be the way to go as well. It'll protect all your electronic devices and appliances through-out the house.

AFTER FEW POWER OUTAGES, FREEZER TEMPERATURE KEEPS BOUNSING BETWEEN 5 AND 20 DEGREES, REFRIGIRATOR SEEMS TO WORKING FINE AND KEEPS TEMPERATURE.

Check the cabinet temperature with an independent thermometer. If it is does keep a stable temperature the problem would probably be electronic.

A power outage is often accompanied by a voltage surge. Sensitive electronics and computers can be damaged by a voltage surge. People are used to protecting personal computers with surge protectors but fail to realise these days almost everything is a computer or contains a computer. Radios and tv sets are computers and so are cars and even the humble toaster these days has some computing power.
Today almost everything but the cheapest of appliances should be protected. A minimum surge protection can be obtained by using an area surge protector.

Samsung Microwave Oven SMH7159 No Power

The power outage may have been accompanied with a power surge. That can happen with lightning strikes, or if a large inductor (electric motor or equivalent) happened to be on the same power line at the time of the outage. There's a good chance a surge took out the control panel.

modern fridges do not like power surges as it burns the electronics
call in a technician to check it out and put a surge protection in the power supply cord

Why did cable box hdmi connection blow out my tv in power outage??

Yes it can happen. Though you can't prevent this 100% you can reduce the chance by getting a surge protector with coaxial protection as well. Lots of times the surge comes through the coax. Here is and example. http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-8-Outlet-Protector-Coaxial-Protection/dp/B000IF9QW0

WE HAD A POWER OUTAGE.NOW MY KEURIG WONT TURN ON. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THANK YOU.

Hi,first you need to check if fuse has not been blown out.Because when POWER comes back after an outage there is a surge voltage flowing through electrical lines. It is advisable that when their is a POWER outage you have to turn off your FUSE box or SAFETY box to make sure that it won'tdamage appliances when POWER comes back>Technically when POWER SOURCE or SUPPLY has been shut off for a period of time. When POWER is back, expectantly there is an abnormal flow of current/line; current will not be as stable until a period of time..AC current behaves like a wave, values changes from time to time especially when POWER SOURCE has just been TURNED ON..So better turn off FUSE BOX when experiencing POWER OUTAGE so that when power comes back SURGE VOLTAGE wont flow within the circuit>Hope this helps..

I had a power outage & now my pc won't turn on.

It is possible that either the power supply or the motherboard is faulty.
Try swapping out the power supply (borrow one if you can) and if the PC power LED does not light up or the PC boot up, then you need a new PC.
I suggest you get a surge protection power board and connect your new computer to this surge protection power board. It will protect your computer from power surge problems.

Not powering on after power outage

Hello,

Sometimes after a power outage, some power supplies can take a hit but will not provide the needed voltage to operate your pc. In this case you should replace the power supply. For future protection, connect your pc to a power strip or power source with surge protection. This will range in price from $7 to hundreds depending on how much you need to protect and your budget.

Good Luck

Tv wont power up when it does no picture

The Philips Projection t.v.s have a built in overvolt protection system. The t.v. may have experienced a power surge/outage/issue. Simply unplug the t.v. for about an hour to allow the overvolt issue to drain and reset. My Philips did the same thing about 1 1/2 years ago and we have never had another problem with it since. The repair guy was going to come out and charge us about $400 just to look at it !
Hope this solves the problem. If this does not, unplug the t.v. and carefully remove the back lower cover. There is a small 250 volt .5 amp fast acting fuse near the back of the unit on the circuit board. Use caution This may have been blown during a power spike/outage/surge. This is the first line of defense that gives the t.v. some degree of protection. Most Radio Shacks/Ace Hardware stores carry these small fuses.
