Beater bar isn't working

Sounds like a broken belt. Unplug it flip it over and look at the bottom there is a cover over the bottom and the beater bars look for screws or levers to remove the cover then replace the belt. it goes around the beater bar and a drive shaft. check HERE for a manual and belts.

I need to change the belt and cant find where it goes

Then how do you know you need to change it?

The belt is always associated with the beater bar. You will find the belt on one end or the other of the beater bar. Usually there is two longer screws holding a plate over the beater bar. Take that off and you should see the belt or at least where it goes.

Belt is broken. Not sure how to replace

1. Get a long screw driver (probably phillips head) a strip of tape.
2. Look around underneath your vac for screws... look carefully because sometimes they are sneaky and hidden in weird areas like under the wheels, etc.
3. Take screws out stick them in order on tape turned upwards. (remember how you took them out.)
4. Gently remove the bottom cover.
5. Clean and remove debris, hair, dust bunnies, rocks... whatever.
6. Determine where the belt goes, disengage the beater bar on that side (may need to unscrew something) Belt on beater bar gears. Other end of belt on motor end... then stretch belt with beater bar until it fits back in it's place and replace any screws, etc.
7. Make sure the belt is seated properly.
8. replace cover, screws... test.**

** sometimes belts require that you put a twist in them so it can transition from the motor's direction to the beater bar's direction... if you twist the wrong way... the beater bar will spit dirt out the front of the vac.. (it's bulldozing it) In that case remove cover and twist the belt the other way.

Good luck.

Motor runs but will not turn the beaters

You most likely have to replace the belt that goes from the motor to the beaters. check to see if the beaters are clogged making it impossible for them to spin. Depending on the vacuum its relatively easy to replace the belt, you just have to buy one.

MY VACUUM IS NOT PICKING UP

Hi This is quite complicated but I'll try and simplify this for you:
If this is a Panasonic upright then there are two drive belts as you know. Once you take off the sole plate (where the beater bar is) by undoing screws and the beater bar is looking at you, you would have to take off the smaller belt motor pulley first before putting on a new larger drive belt. If the smaller belt is still intact and you only need to replace the larger belt, you'll still have to take off both belts to put on the new drive belt.
Motor pulley belt has to be taken off first then the old drive belt, then grasp the beater and slide on new larger drive belt before having to attach the motor pulley belt and then the larger belt onto the motor pulley. Once all belts have been attached ensure that the beater bar is pushed in correctly before you screw the sole plate back on.

Carpet Beater for Central Vac

Some of these types of hoses, if there is a male plug on the end that goes into the wall outlet, could be that one side of it is fused and will have to be replaced. When something happens like a short or a bad brush roll stall, this fuse will open up. If you supplied the model number I may habe been able to look it up and see. But if the hose end cuff comes off, then you can check it with an ohm meter to see if one side is open or not.
