The PV-GS180 works with SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I am having trouble trying to install video stream driver to connect camcorder to PC. I keep getting 'are you sure you want to remove [sic] all programs?' I have a HP Computer with Windows xp or 2007

Windows XP has the stream uptake profile built right into it. You should not need a driver. Plug your cam into your computer and open movie maker (also built into XP) and it will ask you if you want to import. Click yes and then a drop down tab will apeer just choose your dv devise (cam)

Can i record video on my sd card

I don't think so. I just got mine and read the instruction book backward and forward. Recording video on your SD card is not an option on this model, just taking pictures.
