IBM Wheelwrite 1000 by LEXMARK auto return not working

the solenoid plunger makes contact with the print hammer. there is a nylon cap on the contact end of the plunger that goes bad and needs to be replaced not an easy job unless you have done it a few times

The O/O switch is on the top L. rear corner, it is red or white.

Be sure the print wheel is properly installed and that there is no debris in the P/W area. otherwise you'll need a tech.

Depending on the age they are either just beyond the keyboard on the right or left side, open the cover and look down just past the keyboard. 2 0r 3 "AA" batteries.

Sounds like a keyboard problem, either it is failing or there was a spill on the keyboard. Contact George Beyers Co. For a rebuild or replacement. 800-392-8085

Probably no cracking required. Spray a little WD40 on the silver shaft that the carrier slides on, if that dosen't do it there is the carrier motor in the left rear that the bearings dry up in a little WD40 will work there as well.

It sounds like the left margin is set in the middle of the page, return to the stopping place, press margin release then backspace to the place where you wany the left margin and press l. margin key.

If that dosen't do it remove the batteries and unplug the machine for a minute or two all settings will go to defalt. CAUTION ALL THE MEMORY WILL BE CLEARED!!!

Using the space bar move the carrier (print head) all the way to the right, press and hold tab clear key and hit the return key.
