Re: three red lights and no power
First back off all of the screws just so there not lose
plug in and see if your the fan speed is normal (low)
if so your in good shape ,unplug
the next step is critical put the cd rom drive back in
plug the fan back in and hold it blowing up and place
it over the the C.P.U. heat sink . now power up
should take 4min for the fan to get up to full
and 3 min to get two reds UNPLUG and wait
about 15min before you power up .

Re: three red lights and no power
Did you let it heat up untill you get the 2 red rings. If not unplug your fan; turn it on and wait untill you get lights 1 and 3 flashing. turn it off and wait a couple of min. then plug your fan in and add the wind tunnel. then turn it back on. If it still doesn't work you did the X-clamp fix wrong.

the freezing can be many things most likely its a starter symptom of the rrod error code 0020 its when the gpu separates from the board or something that impacts visual effects on the screen cold solder or something else there are two things to look for the 360 gets hot it shuts down to prevent damage two red lights only shows up if the cpu overheats freezing is the same as the two red lights the sytem is faulty wait for a bit and it will red ring and you will have to self fix it or send it in there are ways to prevent this you take it appart and heat up the chips and replace thermal paste on gpu but that requires xclamp moding its all up to you if you want to mod send me a message email is firstname.lastname@example.org i can tell you what you need piece by piece and what to do please rate
I CAN FIX IT! There are links that show you how to repair this issue yourself (but they are not very clear and every thing is very fragile inside the XBOX 360) or you can contact me via reply on here and we can discuss the issue further as I recently repaired my XBOX 360 with the same issues and it works better than when was brand new.
Or you can google xbox 360 RRod issues it is a MS defect
There are 4 different kinds of RROD on a xbox 360. When the ring of light shows 1 red light, it means there is a minor hardware issue. If it shows 2 red lights, it means it over heated. If it shows 3, it has a major hardware failure and 4 red lights means that you dont have your A/V cables plugged in. Hope this helps.
or may b due to power failure,
chck unplugging all plugs frm ur 360 n reconnecting it, if it works then its nt a rrod, if it doesnt ...
then itz rrod, u need to send your xbox 360 to fix it..
or need to get it xclamped:
here is the whole process to do a permanent fix *xlcamP* of rrod on ur xbox 360:
you can use a trick called xclamp and get a kit online or you can call Microsoft. RROD means you have an overheating problem. 99% of this is caused by Microsoft not bolting the heat sinks the right way to the gpu and cpu.
2 lights: overheating but in your case most likely bad contact between either the CPU or GPU with the heatsink. Check all your washers and make sure they are even. If missing one it will create an unevent surface. If all looks good try put more thermal compound.
3 red lights: still not working after replacing the xclamps.
solution: try the heat gun fix and you will have much better luck.
I have already posted on a different site you can check it out.
Usually if a motherboard has been scored or damaged.
( tracks or resistors/capacitors dislodged et,c )
The board is in the Bin. ( scrap ) unless the damage can be repaired. The RROD Or red-ring of death. Is usually due to the x-clamps fitted to the console initially, by the manufacturer.
Replacing the x-clamps, with a kit ( bolts/washers thermal Compound ) And 4 x heatpads recommended. Can cure the RROD. And in my own experience the 1 red light And E74 error.
Bottom line, if the boards scratched. it,s in the Bin.
