I can't get out of try and decide. When I tried

I can't get out of try and decide. When I tried to reboot, it loops through ''starting acronis loader'' and errors with program terminated code-1. I can't get into the bios to change to boot order to reload an operating system.

    Good evening,

I have tried the cd with acronis rescue media, however, it does the same thing, however, I had not thought about the fact that even though its a laptop HD, the sata conectors are the same...I will report back. Thanks for your comment.

    Good Morning,

You nailed it, "who was that masked man", good job. I put the HD in my desktop ran rescue, then put it back in the laptop.

Try and Decide obviously has a serious flaw, making it non usable, however, at least my HD is operable.

    Thanks again,

    David

Acronis has an application that run before the OS called Acronis loader. It is posible it gets corrupt. Try the booting cd with acronis rescue media. Then Uninstall the boot loader. Ultimately, if you cannot do backup/restore from the computer, extract the hard drive, using and hard disk to USB adapter, do the nessesary operations on othe computer that you will hookup the hardrive.

Hello, Yes the SATA connections are the same, slip my mind(too much IDE Connections). On another computer where you connect the Laptop drive do a backup. When done, Format the drive and Restore the backup on the drive and re-insert on the laptop.

I need acronis true image 11 home serial no

If you are installing a trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2011 or Acronis Disk Director 11 Home, you do not need a serial number.

If you have an OEM version of an Acronis product (e.g. preinstalled on your hard disk, notebook etc), please contact your OEM vendor for a serial key.

If you purchased your Acronis product online, then you should have received your serial number in an automatic E-mail that was sent to the E-mail address that you provided at the time of the purchase.

If you purchased your Acronis product offline at a retail store, then the location of the serial number depends on the package:
  • Boxed product, that consists of the CD, White CD Sleeve, Quick Start Guide. - The serial number sticker is affixed to the back of White CD Sleeve;
  • DVD Amaray Case, that consists of the CD and Quick Start Guide. - The serial number sticker is affixed inside the DVD case on right hand side. Directly above where the CD is held in place.
If you still cannot find your serial number, you can try contacting Acronis Customer Central here: http://www.acronis.com/support/index.html?ow=1

Acronis loader fatal error- I can't boot up !

if your pc starts ok with no cd in than do it like that if you see this error all the time it means your hard drive is shot, or erased, or partially erased and needs to be setup again or replaced. got nothing to do with acronis if it does this all the time even with no cd in drive.

I am trying to replace hard drive with a larger one in a acer extensa 5420. Going from a 120Gb SATA (Vista pre- loaded) to a 320 GB SATA. Also having problems loading vista ultimate on new drive.

if you want you can try using acronis. its fairly simple and can handle your transition to the larger drive. are you upgrading to vista ultimate?

to handle the clone, download the acronis and it has a trial 15 day version. have a usb to sata connector available, you can pick this up for about 20 dollars at most computer places. turn on your computer normally and attach the new drive to the usb connector and let it load up in device manager. then from there load your acronis, in acronis select the tools/utilities and select clone hard drive, leave everything standard and it will start the process, it will ask you to reboot and from there clone your existing hard drive as is only on a larger partition size now. if you are comfortable with acronis you can change partition sizes if you like to suit you. what kind of problems are you having with vista ultimate?

Don't worry about the size reported, 305GB is same as 320GB because 305GB = 305*1024*1024*1024 = 327491MB

Try deleting all partitions and reformatting (but do NOT choose Quick Format). Also try chkdisk /R C: to check for errors.
