Factory reset without cd

You can't. You need the recovery discs, unless your computer has a recovery partition. Open My Computer/Computer. If you have two HDDs such as C and D and our optical drive then you have a recovery partition. Restart the computer and follow the prompts. It will say press F# to recover. Usually F10, F11 or F12.

Otherwise you will need to order a recovery disc set from the manufacturer.

Recovery disc

Evidently Toshiba has a special page for this... it claims there is a recovery partition you can access to restore it to factory condition. Should this option fail, you can use the recovery discs it came with to restore manually... assuming the hard drive itself did not come defective (which is possible). If you determine the hard drive is shot I suggest you make a warranty claim... if you want it asap, buy a 2.5 in SATA HDD and get the service manual to install it, then run the recovery discs. I will warn you though these new laptops (2009+) sometimes don't take well to the 'wrong' parts being installed, the BIOS may not recognize it, or the recovery discs may not like it. If you going to go the surgical route, let me know. Good luck.

Hi.

Please follow the steps to create the recovery discs using the HP Recovery Manager.

Click Start>AllPrograms>Recovery Manager.
Select Recovery Manager. This will open Recovery Manager.
Click Advanced Options. If you are using a laptopand operating on battery power alone you must connect to anAC power outlet before you can go to the next step.
Select Recovery disc creation. Click Next. The Recovery Manager will begin creating the necessaryfiles. This may take a while, so be patient until the bar has reached 100%.
Read the table of requirements thatappears. Depending on the type of discs you use, more or less may beneeded; if you use ordinary CDs, Recovery Manager will require more compared tofewer discs if DVDs are used.
Insert your first blank disc, havingmade sure it is fully labeled, such as "Recovery Disc 01" or"Recovery Disc 1 of 2". The optical drive of your computerwill have automatically opened. If not, open manually. Close the optical driveand click Next.
Understand and confirm you want to gothrough with the operation using the type of disc you have inserted by clickingNext.
Wait while Recovery Manager now createsthe first disc. This may take 20-40 minutes as it collects the files, writes the files and verifies the files to disc.
Remove the disc and insert the nextafter the first has been finished after clicking Next. Continue the creation of discs according to thenecessary requirements, up until the last has finished creating files.

Click Next after removing the disc and then Finish to complete the session. Congratulations! You havejust made yourself a set of recovery discs.

  • 1

Click the "Start" icon on the Windows Vista home screen. Select "eMachines," then click "eMachines Recovery Management." The eMachines Recovery Management program opens.

  • 2

Click "Create Factory Default Disc." The program will tell you how many discs you will need. Make sure the correct optical drive is selected, then insert a blank disc into that drive. Click "Start" to begin the burning process.

  • 3

Remove the disc when it is finished burning and label it "Recovery CD 1." Insert the next the next blank disc if one is required. Click "OK" to begin burning the next disc. Hiya guys, My windows vista would not boot, so I burned Ubuntu flying disc and it loaded properly, and I managed to salvage my files from hard disk.. Now I really would need a recovery disc, since i don't...

Ok. Then you can Factory Restore your PC. Doing this, as you very well know, will remove all data and put your PC in a state which it was in when you bought it.
    1. Restart your PC(or turn it on)
    2. Fit F11(or anything that relates to recovery)
    3. Cancel the AutoDetect if it starts up
    4. When you land on the screen with a window that has quite a few options in it, look for one that reads Factory Restore/Recovery.
    5. Choose the option and wait for your PC to be restored.
This option is automated and really quick.
When you log in to your windows again, check if it is possible to make a recovery disc. If so, please get one done. This will help if your recovery partition goes for a toss. Let me know if you need more detail or help. If your problem is resolved, please rate.

    Lost recovery cd

take the time to visit local repair shops see if they will give you a copy of vista. Please be sure to read the sticker on the side of your case to know the exact version of vista. This sticker will also give you a key to use when you do the install. After that hit up gateways website and goto there support section and punch in your make and model. You should be offered the drivers you need to make your system work good as new.
