Possible bad Red CRT. Or if it hooked up with componet cables then the green or Y plug is bad or diconnected from either end of source. Also check your OSD or "menu" and see if color is fine on the there Let me know your results.

Hitachi rear projection model 57f59a makes loud popping sound from time to time

Yes and it is common---the set uses 3 picture tubes and where the high voltage (well over 10,000 volts) goes into the side of each tube via a spark plug type wire (with good reason) they completely seal the rubber clip that inserts the wire into the side of the tube.

You are describing almost perfectly when one of the tubes arcs around the anode (what the opening is called--2nd Anode to be precise)

Two things are going to happen--when it pops it can instantly burn the coating off of the offending tube's screen resulting in a burn mark--usually dead center and if red tube arcs the mark will be yellow(only red and visable in that area of the screen.

This damage is permanent once it happens-----Second is that it will arc hard enough to blow some other part out in the set.

let me know if questions.

Hitachi projector cp-s318 and the pictures give off a red tint.

Hi,

Make sure the Computer Input is set to VGA, Computer, or RGB (depending on which projector model you have). Go through the menu settings of your projector.

Hope this helps

Will not show red color in picture, magic focus shows red though

You have a projection light element out. I had the green element go on mine. I had a service agreement so a repair tech changed it.
