Question about Acer (91.42R37.001) CD-RW/DVD-ROM (Combo) Burner
Installed and reinstall and updated driver. It plays, because I see it blinking, but I get a message that no program recognizes it. Called the tech support, they want me to do a full recovery. I think I just need a new download for driver, but can't find any available.
CD/DVD drives do not run using conventional drivers, this is why you can't find any. They use class filter drivers. This problem is more likely caused by having missing or corrupt filter drivers.
This is easy to get around. Class Filter Drivers are found in your Motherboard/Chipset drivers. So all you should need to do, is identify your motherboad and chipset, go to their website, do a search for your board, download and install the most current drivers for your board/chipset.
Once this is done, restart your system, if it hasn't done so already, and see if the drive is now recognised.
If the above doesn't work first time, it may be an idea to uninstall your media and burning software, then try the above steps, before re-installing the media and burning software.
Either way, let me know how you get on.
