Re: Computer making strange noise

This is not a problem most people experience this. Its just your fan making noise monstly because it is touching some wire inside. You don't need to worry about this.

Should I return my HP 500-214 due to squeaking?

No, not all new computers make this squeaking sound. It may be a defect of one of the internal components of the machine, and it may be present in all of those same models. You could try to replace it one more time, and then talk to Best Buy about using the gift card to buy a different computer model.

Dell Inspiron 570 loud hard drive hum.....(?)

Any strange noise like excessive clicking, grinding, some weird sounds etc. actually indicate a failing hard drive.
Failing hard drives often show warning signs of their imminent demise. If you're lucky enough to see or hear one of these signs, stop what you're doing and immediately back up your data. They say prevention is better than cure so if your computer's hard disk is making some strange clicking sounds, BACK UP YOUR DATA IMMEDIATELY (As the drive is not operating smooth and may fail anytime).
After making backup of your important data on CD/DVD or External Drive, you may scan the drive for surface errors, format it and see if it works properly or not. It would be better if you seek professional assistance for examination of the disk.

Hard drives are mostly under warranty for at least one year. Claim warranty, if possible.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

May computer is about two months old. Everything works fine except the sound. When you listen to something music or talking it makes a buzzing noise then continues on for a bit longer sounding good , then...

Your computer with your speaker is under warranty. Have your pc and your speaker check and replace by your reseller. Doing anything with your pc right now will make your warranty VOID.

When i start the computer it sounds very strange and the computer are very slow

it's hard to figure out the source of that noise by the "strange" word.
if it is like a metallic sound it could be you hard drive failing.. how old is it.. I had to replace mine after 5 years of normal-heavy usage. the slugging or your computer could also be due to the hard drive or it could be lack of maintenance (defragmentation, malware, viruses)

1. if the hd is old. save all your data as soon as possible as your description could mean an inminent hard drive failure in the way.
2. replaced as need.

if hd fairly new (1-2 years with normal usage) do this:
1. save your data in backups
2. download, install, update and run deep scans with at least 5 malware programs.
3. update your antivirus and run a full scan
4. defrag hd.
5. it may be convinient to do check your disk for errors

if the sound is a loud zumming.. undust the inside of your case and clear all vents from dust and gunk, (watch for electromagnetic discharge that could damage your computer if you are going to do it your self.
if the zumming continue, look for source as it may be a failing fan and replace as soon as possible.. fan's keep proper temperature on hardware components and will make them last.

post back with your findings if needed.

Hello I have a Dell Dimension 3100 desktop. After

Bad Fan... either the CPU Fan or the Power Supply Fan or the Case Fan. If the PC is older than 4 years it is probably the Power Supply.

Loud fan noise maybe bearings..only 5 months old new

usually loud fan noise in computers means that the fan you have got is too fast for you computer or too slow for your computer. go back to the place you got your fan from and ask them to check its compatibility with your computer.
otherwise try cleaning the fan or removing it and making the screws a little bit looser. might jusdt be rubbing

Computer won't stop

Hi ashbadash93,

I have had similiar issues in the past. Try powering it down by un-plugging it from the back of the pc, wait at least 2 minutes before plugging it back in. After 2 minutes, plug it back in and power on the pc. Sometimes this helps.

Loud Fan Noise

Usually the fan on graphic card dies first. It can be replaced with another one but I'd suggest you to build in 80 or 100 mm fan to blow directly on your graphic card cooler. Remove the lid and check if perhaps some cable has fallen close/into fan blade. It must be one of those two. I'm 90% certain.
