Question about Kenmore 22642 Top Load Washer

2 Answers

We just moved, and hooked up our Kenmore washing machine. On it's first cycle, during the end of the rinse cycle, it starts violently shaking and making loud noise. Any idea how we can trouble shoot this? The water connection is fine, no leaking, shaking also occurs when load is reduced.

Since you mentioned you just moved, did you have shipping bolts installed on your washer? If the bolts are still installed, the washer will shake violently as soon as it begins to spin.

Also make sure the washer is level front-to-back and side-to-side. The back feet of the washer are auto-leveling. All you have to do is rock the washer forward, lifting the back feet off the floor (make sure the washer is empty when you do this). You will hear a clicking sound as the back feet readjust. Carefuly lower the washer back down to the floor and then level the front feet with the back by adjust them with a wrench. If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Kenmore Whasher shakes on spin cycle

unfortunetly this is common , these new frontloads spin fast even with no pedestal these things move...
make sure the locking nuts for the legs on the pedestal are screwed securely up to frame on pedestal, also could be a floor issue depending on where it is, slooping or not solid floor.

Machine legs should be adjusted so that machine is level and standing on all four legs. The load in the machine should be evenly distributed. Utube has an excellent video on washing machine repair.

Kenmore he2 washer shakes violently

Check the Vibration damper rods to be sure that...
1. They are there and mount is solid.
2. If they are broken in 1/2.
3. The plastic knuckle mounts are not missing/broken.
4. There is oil in the shock absorber/spring section of the rods.

Also - there are suspension springs on the bottom of the tub that could be broken and/or missing.

Replace/repair as necessary.

The Guide Plate underneath is out of alignment,, You might have to call me on this one. The only reason I am sure of this is because when my delivery guys would deliver a direct drive washer such as your, sometimes when the machine is laid down to far on its side, it gets out of alignment. Easy fix,, Just hard to explain.

Kenmore washer shakes violently during spin cycle

syrny,

Not sure what you did, exactly. First, does the machine shake when spun empty...and then with water only? If so, you have probably failed to tighten something or misaligned something. Go over your work.

No shakes? Rearrange your load. You may have a pair of heavy wet jeans which is throwing the whole thing out of kilter. It only takes about a half pound of sodden clothing to do this.
