Hi,
It sounds like the solenoid that opens the soap door is not working properly.
It could just be it's too tight or not lubricated.

Unplug and remove door cover to find it, then check contacts, and check opertion.

Soap remains on the dishes after the wash cycle is complete.

Check that the holes in the spray arms haven't blocked up and the filters in the bottom are clean. The arms may not be rotating. To check this, when the machine is washing, open the door, turn all the spray arms to face the same direction, shut the door and leave running for about 30 seconds. Open the door again and look at the position of the spray arms. They should have moved.

Tip

Stop Washing Machine Smell, Mold, and Mildew

Your washer is not smelling so clean and you wonder first why it is like this and then how can I fix it?

With the popularity of the front load washer and the low water usage associated with then comes other problems. Because of the low water consumption the dirt grime and residue that would normally be totally washed away, some is left as a film in the washer. Cold water usage can contribute to this by adding to this film. The make up of certain commercial fabric softeners and detergents can make the problem worse by giving the bugs food. Animal fats in some products are great food for the molds and mildew.

Some washers also let a bit of water lay in them after the wash this gives moisture which also helps to grow molds and mildew. When you close the door tightly after washing, this traps all the water in the washer and prevents the rubber door gasket, the soap dispenser, and other parts of the washer from drying out.

Here are some things you can do to prevent these problems.

Always leave the door to your washer open after use.
Leave the dispenser drawer open also.
Use liquid detergents instead of powdered, they will leave less film
Use the minimum detergent possible to get your clothes clean, more is not always better.
Use fabric softener sheets in your dryer instead of the washer liquid.
Check that ALL clothing is removed from the washer.
Periodically wipe down the rubber door gasket and check for mold or stuck socks
Use hot water when practical, like when washing whites. This will help remove the film.

If you have a problem here is what you can do to help fix it.

Wipe everything down with a solution of vinegar water.
Pour vinegar into the dispenser drawers. Then add ½ cup of vinegar to your washer and run through a clean cycle with hot water.

You can periodically add the vinegar to your wash load to help keep things under control. This will naturally disinfect and clean your washer while you are doing your regular wash. This is especially good to use if you will not be using your washer for a few days again. The residue of vinegar in the washer will help to control the smell and mold formation.

If you are buying a new washer, do some research before buying. Some machines are more prone to this problem then others. A bit of research may help you to aoivd the headaches of having a washer with this problem.

Leaving a white film on everything

Hi, what you are currently experiencing is as a result of dishwasher detergent, combined with mineral deposits from hard water, which in yurn can leave a white film on the inside of the dishwasher.
You have to clean the dishwasher by sprinkling baking soda onto a damp cloth. Scrub the inside of the dishwasher to remove soap scum, grime and mineral deposits.
Pour 2 cups white vinegar into the bottom of your dishwasher. Turn the dishwasher on and run it on a full cycle. Stop the dishwasher halfway through the wash cycle and allow the vinegar and steam to work on the remaining mineral deposits for 20 minutes before resuming the cycle.
Open the dishwasher and dry the interior with clean, dry cloths. Keep the door propped open for 20 to 30 minutes to allow the dishwasher to dry completely.

Hope it helps....

After running a full cycle the dishes have a film left on them. Sometimes soap is not rinsred off the dishes. Tried different soaps for dish washers. It seems the only thing to take the film off of the...

Film on dishes post cycle is caused by 2 things.... Poor water flow during the wash / rinse cycle.... i.e clogged sump inlets or restricted drains. Clean the drain hose first. Start at the cink connection and clean EVERY connection and in-line componenet from the port hole at the sink connection all the way back to the drain hise connection port at the dishwasher.

If you still have dirty dishes post cycle after drain cleaning... then remove the lower wash arm support and clean the accumulator / sump area thoroughly. See this link: (items 1 and 4) http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5140844&diagram_id=28222738#d28222738

Test again.

If the problem persists you will have to gain access to the pump impeller. Inspect the impeller, and pump housing for damage. UNDER the dishwasher. Item 22 of the above link.

This should get your diswasher performing properly again.

Try different detergent types--liquid instead of powder, capsules instead of liquid. Don't put large dishes near the door that might block spray. Check the spray holes in the spray arms for blocking.

Whirlpool gold dishwasher leaves film on dishes

are you in a hard water area such as florida ? do you have a water softener? if so take a can of frozen concentrate orange juice and put the frozen hunk in the bottom of dishwasher and run for one cycle. the citric acid will dissolve undisolved soap . this works much better. than vinegar which will only remain through the first cycle and then drain out as for the already grey glasses wash them in a solution of equal amounts red wine vinegar and water with just a touch of dish soap using a sponge.

Dishwasher not cleaning dishes. Casade cleaner not disolved.???

Run the unit with no soap, after about 5 min. of run time open door and check to see if water is clear or soapy,If soapy then you are having an oversudsng issue. When your washer gets to rinse cycle, your unit (if oversuding),will be rinsing with soapy water and the the drying cycle bakes the soap on dishes. You might be having a white film on your clear glasses.Cut down on soap especially if you have soft water.powder soap is best.Your dishwasher will fill , wash , the drain. Its what you put into it that will cause dishes not become clean.
