Also I just checked by hooking my cable tv up to this unit and when I scanned I get some music channels only audio but I do get VOD preview channel and video is there and audio. please someone help...

  • dale1010dog Jun 29, 2009

Hi thanks for the reply I did change the input no luck. I live in Canada and theres no warranty left. I have it hooked up basic cable. I hooked the same wire to another tv and channels are good. I also just hooked a dvd player up to jacks but no luck, only with audio. its funny how the video on demand preview channel comes on. Maybe this is a lower mhz and goes through the audio or something but im guessing. The video on the preview channel is cfrystal clear. Thanks

  • dale1010dog Jun 29, 2009

If you mean the input where you change to video one ,two, three, cable, antenna, HDTV, and component video then I set it to cable and to antenna but its the same. like I said I do get the video on demand preview channel so settings must be right.

  • dale1010dog Jun 29, 2009

I think you may have been on track with the HD tuner is there a way to test that. the input audio jacks all work but the video ones none of them work. I even tried S video but nothing

  • dale1010dog Jun 29, 2009

I did that but same thing. why is it that I can get the video on demand channel does this channel go through the audio and not the video it doesnt make any sence to me.

  • dale1010dog Jun 29, 2009

Hi the lamp was replaced not that long ago and its not that because the picture is crystal clear on the video on demand channel the bulb has to be good. also the menu screen lights up nice and bright. whatever it is has to do with the video. All the video inputs must connect together and somewhere there thats the problem. also like I said I have sound but it keeps flashing on the screen no signal. Has to be something in the tuner I tried running cable through A vcr and using the vcr to change channels but again all I get is audio and no video. I tried running through video jacks Svideo and just regular RF cable but same results even tried all the different video inputs that are on the TV and yes I did switch the inputs in the menue. thanks for any help...

  • dale1010dog Jun 29, 2009

one other thing. I never reset my counter when the lamp was replaced couple months ago. I cant seem to find the remote right now to do this. Just courious if maybe by not resetting the counter does this disable the video, Im sure it has nothing to do with it but I have no other solutions. is there any way to test the tuner thanks.

  • dale1010dog Jun 29, 2009

Hi thanks for the reply where would I find the input connector circut board on this unit Im assuming its somewhere in the place where the video jacks and stuff are is that correct is there a certain board as I do believe there are three different ones in that. I will try and post back I did check this but didnt see any loose or cracked solder but maybe some cold ones. Thanks ill post back.

  • dale1010dog Jun 30, 2009

Hi well I removed the board and took everything apart everything looked ok in there. I just tried hooking tv up to component video cords you know the pb py ps cords and the picture comes in on that but its not very good. any ideas on that thanks.

  • dale1010dog Jun 30, 2009

I cant seem to find any door is it behind the fan thats in front of the bulb. the bulb does light up when TV is on so would it do that if the door is loose or switch disconnected. is there a diagram to show where the door is thanks

  • dale1010dog Jul 01, 2009

Hi can see the picture the bulb is working. No other video jacks or cable input work except for the component video jacks they work but picture is snowy.

  • dale1010dog Jul 01, 2009

Don't think it is something major, try reprogramming the tv remote. Set it to antenna instead of cable. Try hooking up with just the tv and nothing else. Look at all the settings on the remote carefully.

This means the access door for the bulb on the lower right side of the TV is open or loose. There are two screws that hold it in. If they are tight, maybe the interlock switch is bad or disconnected. Open the door, and hold in the little white interlock button while turning on the TV. If it still doesn't work, there are wires leading from the switch to a connector about halfway across the TV on the bottom. Connector might be loose. Unfortunately, it is hard to reach. You might have to remove the screws across the bottom rear edge that hold in the chassis and gently slide it out to reach the connector.

First thing to do is a hard reset. Merely unplugging the HDTV power cord for 4 hours, then power up again. The purposed of unplugging is to dissipitate the stored current in the memory IC so it will gone.
If the reset does not help, try disconnecting anything on input 2. For example, if you have a dvd player connected to that input, the tv may be sensing its presence and switch over to it. (Especially, if the device is left ON).

Good luck:

If reset does not fix the trouble, then there is an internal problem. I think the most common cause of this problem is a faulty lamp. If you have replaced the lamp, or otherwise have reason to believe that it is not the lamp, it may be the ballast (the thing that starts up the lamp). You can purchase a ballast at a good price at partstore.com . If you want to see the life hours of the lamp. You must in service mode on LG DLP HDTV, simply turn your system off, then use the remote and press the following buttons with about .5 to .75 seconds delay between presses: MUTE – 1- 8 – 2- POWER. Once in the service menu, select the bottom item, Options, and from there you can reset the lamp counter and can see the life hours of your lamp..

Try to check the input connector circuit board at the back of your HDTV for craked or cold solder this is common causes thats picture not coming out. Before you replaced the tuner reworks or re solder all component parts joints associated to the tuner, in tuner section and also all input connector circuit board. A cold solder joint is where a lead of a component is not soldered at a high enough temperature and results in a bad electrical connection which can respond to physical shock and thermal stress.Due to time, heat, use, some solder joints would be cracked or loose. It is possible that the cold solder is still minimally connected . When the HDTV unit turns on heat would be generated which would be sufficient to further loosen up the solder joint to the point it no longer provides electrical contact. A solder joint may also be broken or cracked because the HDTV was dropped or hit. Look on the front and back of the board along the defective circuit to see any components that look like they are not soldered effectively or the solder connection is cracked or broken. A cold solder joint looks dull and/or bulging unlike the smooth and shiny normal solder joints. Its better you resolder all components parts joints .Thats is the best solution for this kind of problem its proven of all electronic technician

There is most likely a faulty dm board. (video board). Also double check for loose or broken wires and solder joints. Most likely failing DM board which is quite common these days.

Since this is an HDTV, either the bulbs are bad or the DM board has a bad capacitor and is faulty.

Have you tried to change the selected INPUT on the TV?

Are you in the US? As all channels are broadcast in Digital Format now... and will not come in without an antenna attached.

There may be a problem with the HD Tuner in your set. Have you scanned for channels recently?

Is it still under warranty??

Do you have a cable box? or just basic cable?

Please use the "Continue With this Expert" if you wish to answer the questions I have posed.

Thanks :D

In the setup menu for the TV is the Tuner mode set to SAT, Cable, HDTV, or AIR?
make sure it is set to AIR or Cable, and not HDTV

    Thanks

page 23 of your manual CLICK HERE
shows the TV setup where you have to set up the cable input/output type.
page 61 - make sure your MAIN PICTURE SOURCE selecion (what i mentioned earlier) is set to antenna or cable (whichever you are attempting to use)

if all the items listed are set properly - it is your tner that has failed.
there is no end-user fix - it will need to be serviced by a knowledgeable service center.

    Thanks for using FixYa!!
