Bernette for Bernina 334DS_Side cover doesn't stay close

Not sure if wrong screws were used. The clear plastic screws simply fill the holes there. They don't seem to attach to anything due to their short length. I wonder if replacing the right screws would fix this problem. Or there's something wrong with its spring mechanism? Pls help. Thanks, Su

Can Iobtain a manual that covers the complete overhaul and parts list for a bernina bernette 334ds overlocker?

Hello Barry

A service manual is available (at a small cost) at:
Bernette Sewing Machine Service Manuals which would also provide parts.

Please give me a thumbs up if this is helpful.

I have a Bernina 334DS. The motor whirs but the pressure foot does not go up and down.

Can I assume you mean the foot control does not work or do you mean the machine will not run
I have seen the set screw on the motor pulley come loose, thus motor whirling, and nothing moves
the side cover must be removed, then belts removed and the set screws on the motor pulley tightened

How do I change the needle on my Bernette 303 overlocker

To be sure you don't drop the needle down inside the machine, place a piece of paper or fabric across the needle plate. There are 2 tiny screws above the needles. One does the right needle, the other does the left needle. Loosen the screw (do not loosen the screw so much that it will fall out--they are Hard to find!). Pull out the old needle. Push the new needle up into the hole (the flat side should face the back of the machine). Hold the needle in place while you tighten the screw.

The upper looper on my Bernette 334Ds overlocker will not move backwoods and forward hence no loops or stitches being made. How do I fix this?

Has it been professionally cleaned and oiled recently? Even though the manuals usually don't provide instructions for oiling the inside of a serger, they do need it periodically because of all the moving parts. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, then maybe a trip to the Bernina technician is in order. (Please if you try it yourself, be sure you have the proper oil, preferably Bernina serger oil--not Bernina sewing machine oil.)
