what would cause fine colored lines to be deposited? I have been printing on Accuart three, a film I use to make screens from. I have smears on the bottom of the film but also fine lines in different printed on the right side of the film. I clean the nozzles over and over, but it didn't seem to help. I put in a new epson black cartridge, wondering if there was some leaking, and although the smearing can be wiped off, what causes the random colored lines?

  • sally855 Jun 28, 2009

I can see leaking being bloby like the black that was being deposited, but would it leak in fine lines?

  • sally855 Jun 29, 2009

I cleaned what I could and changed the colored cartridge as well as the black.
It is worse. The black is smeared on the top of the film and the colored lines are more numerous.

  • sally855 Jun 29, 2009

The printer won't work without the ink cartridges in it but that  was a good idea. I guess I will call epson tomorrow.

Okay - there possibly ink in the machine, try cleaning it yourself. You will have to clean up all the rollers and internal parts.

Turn off your printer. Make sure all parts have stopped moving and the power indicator light is off. you could unplug it.

Wipe down the outside of your printer. Using a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe down all the outer surfaces of your printer. Remove trays to reach all areas.

Clean the inside. Open the panel used to access the ink cartridges. Use a dry cloth or air-duster to remove dust, dirt and scraps of paper. Wipe up spots of ink as well. Be careful and avoid making physical contact with circuits and other electronics.

Also open all other panels and places that open and clean them.

See if there is ink leaking or droping from anywhere

Generally ink in the machine getting to the paper. Excess ink inside the machine where its not supposed to be. cleaning it should solve the issue, unless the printer is faulty and its leaking ink.

  • Ekse Jun 29, 2009

take the cartridges out, clean it again, have it take some paper and put it throught the machine to clean it up.

  • Ekse Jun 29, 2009

I think you should be able to take and keep the cartridges out while you clean it, then turn it on, and put in some paper, press the resume button to make it pick up the paper and cycle it throught the printer.

Do that untill there are no ink marks on the pages, if you get ink marks on a page theres probably some ink still on the printer and you need to clean it out.

  • Ekse Jul 01, 2009

the issue could be a full waste ink tank thats started to leak / spill over since its full - would need to be replaced by epson or if you can find it - get to it you could empty it yourself or wash it, and then naturally clean up the machine from the excess ink that is still inside.

I have a Canon PIXMA MP250, and it's printing black and faded lines alternatively. (one line black, one line faded black...), sometimes involve blue too.. Anyone can help?

First, are you running low on those ink colors? If not, possibly print cartridges need cleaning. If printer has separate print heads, they made need cleaning.
Lastly, print head(s) may need replacement.

Not printing black

Sounds like the print head needs alignment. If an "auto" alignment can't or won't be run, somewhere in the maintenance section of your printer driver software should be an operation for running a print head alignment and doing adjustments to get the printer aligned for clear printing. First you should check the maintenance program for "head cleaning" and run a couple of head cleaning cycles to see if a clogged head is the problem...

Printer has worked perfectly since purchased, suddenly started printing only the black portions of a photo. Did a nozzle check which confirmed only black cartridge functioning. Deep cleaned all heads....

The print head is still probably still partially blocked. Cleaning/deep cleaning tries to clear the head by flushing ink through, doesn't always work but does use up your ink.

You can get print head cleaning kits, PC shops, ebay etc. Try one of those.

Here's a really useful ebay url. with some youtube links, if you run the second video down you should get a pretty good idea.

Here's a direct link :- http://www.printheadhospital.co.uk/quickshop/

You don't have to buy this one, there may be cheaper, have a shop around.

Hi, I am having a problem with my relatively new canon ip100. Since I installed new cartridge for black ink, when I run the test of nozzle it shows that black print head needs cleaning: missing parts lines...

Welcome to FixYa!

Here are my suggestions:

Confirm that the Ink Tank is installed properly.
If the ink tanks are not loaked into place, the will not be supplied to the print head.
Remove tape from the
The ink tank requires air to flow through it so ink can move from the reservoir to the print heads.
Confirm there is no orange tape across the top of the ink tank.

Try to use other Black Ink Cartridge. The cartridge might be defective.

I hope this helps.

When the printer prints out a typed document there's black lines in the background that are pretty dark wherever there is typing. I don't know what is wrong

You most likely have some build up dirt on the bottom of the print head. If you can take the print head out do so and clean the bottom with a damp cloth. If you can't get it out take a damp cloth and get the print head to the middle of it's run and unplug printer then get the damp cloth under the print and do a side to side motion to clean the bottom of the print head.

Half the characters on a line of the black cartridge does not print

Possible that the printing head is defective or the head is clogged.
A repeated head cleaning must show a result or else try a manual cleaning before the head can be confirmed .

Epson Stylus CX4800 prints blurred pictures

ok..first you will need to print the nozzle check and see if all the color are printed out fine.. this feature is under the printer properties , under the utility tab.... assuming all your colors nozzle are printed fine..then the next thing for you to do is do the Print Head Alignment.. it's under the same place where you print the nozzle check.. when you press the Print Head Alignment, it will print a page out with many lines.. choose the one with the best alignment.. once u done that..try printing the image again..
oh..if your nozzle check print out is not good.. then you will need to perform head cleaning to clear the clogged head..

Printer prints color, but not black even with new cartridge

First thing to do is a head clean then do a test print. Do you see any of the black lines?
If not, don't do a deep clean as this uses up too much ink. Remove the ink cartridges and then remove the print head unit.
Run the print head under a hot tap for a few minutes until all the run off is clear. Take it outside if you can and shake it dry vigourously. You can use paper towel if you like but try not to wipe across the nozzles. Make sue the contacts are all dry and refit it to the printer. reinstall the ink cartridges and print a few test pages - the first couple may well be wasted but then it should start to print properly.
Is the black still missing? If it is do another head clean and another test print. Any improvement? If you start to see some black do some more head clean routines and it may well come back to normal. If on the other hand you see no trace of black at all, it could be that the print head is worn out and needs replacing.
This printer is now of an age where the print head may well be failing. Mine had to be replaced last year as one of the colours stopped printing.
The head is not exactly cheap - but it's cheaper than buying a new A3 printer.

Unable to print BLACK

The machine should begin cleaning automatically, and the LCD will alternately show "CLEANING" and "PLEASE WAIT". When the machine completes its cleaning cycle, the LCD will display the date and time. Print the Print Quality Check Sheet and see if all colors are present:

    1. Press the Ink Management key.
    2. Use the up or down navigation key to select TEST PRINT.
    3. Press Set to confirm your choice.
    4. Use the up or down navigation key to select PRINT QUALITY.
    5. Press Set to confirm your choice. Press the Color(Colour) Start key to print the Test Sheet.
If one or more of the colors is still missing from the printed page, cleaning the print head may resolve this problem. When cleaning the print head, you are given the option to clean BLACK ONLY, three colors at a time (CYAN, YELLOW, and MAGENTA), or all four colors at once. For this issue we recommend cleaning only the affected color. If more than one color is missing then select ALL. Follow the steps listed below to clean the print head:

Cleaning the Print Head
  1. Press the Ink Management key.

  2. Use the up or down navigation key to select CLEANING.

  3. Press Set to confirm your choice.

  4. Use the up or down navigation key to select the color that is not printing
    -OR-
Select ALL if more than one color is not printing.

  5. Press Set to confirm you choice.

  6. The machine should begin cleaning automatically, and the LCD will alternately show "CLEANING" and "PLEASE WAIT". When the machine completes its cleaning cycle, the LCD will display the date and time.

  7. Test by printing the "Print Quality Check Sheet":

If one or more of the ink colors is still missing from the printed page, repeat the print head cleaning steps listed above up to 4 more times. After each cleaning, print the Print Quality Check Sheet to see if there is any improvement.

I hope it helps!!!
