Can't find a manual for Gateway GT5428 motherboard

I'm wondering what a slot on a Dell E210822 motherboard in a Gateway GT5428 PC is. The slot in question is just below the bottom PCI slot. It looks generally like a PCI slot, but is much shorter and is colored black. If you can find one, I wouldn't mind a manual for the motherboard.

Oh. Oops. I must've had other things on my mind when I typed this. I was having trouble with a Dell, too.

    Thanks for the help.

I'm wondering why you're indicating a Dell E210882 motherboard in a Gateway GT5428?

The Gateway GT5428 Desktop PC comes with an Intel (Coryville) 945G motherboard,

http://support.gateway.com/us/en/s/PC/R/1009466/1009466nv.shtml

Click on Components in the list. Then under the heading - Motherboards - click on 4006158R - Intel (Coryville) 945G Motherboard

Yes, the small black slot under the two long White PCI slots, is a PCI-Express x1 slot.

Click on Product Views, then on, L - PCI Express x1 Connector.

No such animal on a Dell E210882 motherboard,

http://www.usavers.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=27

The Gateway GT5428 motherboard uses an Intel 945G motherboard chipset, not an Intel 845GV as stated.

(Intel D845GVSR motherboard uses an Intel 82845GV Northbridge chip, and an Intel 82801DB Southbridge chip)

Intel 845GV chipset specs,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_chipsets

Intel 945G specs,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Pentium_4.2FPentium_D.2FPentium_EE_chipsets

B-I-G difference in what the two motherboard chipsets will support.

This must have been back when you could self rate, and we Moderators did not catch it.

O - Front Panel Connector

This shows you a photo of the Front Panel header on the motherboard.

A connection on a motherboard is referred to as a Header.

The Front Panel of your computer is the plastic part where the Power On button is.

The Front Panel header on the motherboard is where the wires from the Front Panel connect to.

The above is not to offend you, or insult your intelligence. Just wanted to give you the exact names of the parts you'll be handling.

Looking at your motherboard with the Processor to the top, and the Ram slots to the right, the Front panel header is located in the very bottom right corner.

Looking at the Front Panel header on the motherboard, you will note the different colors.

There are also Pins that stick up out of the Front Panel header.

Every 2 pins is grouped into one color.

The Front Panel header is located parallel to the outside edge of the motherboard.
There are 2 rows of pins.

One row across the top of 5 pins.
One row across the bottom of 5 pins.

The pins are numbered, as well as grouped into colors.

Starting at the Right side, going towards the Left, on the Top row;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9

Starting at the Right side, going towards the Left, on the Bottom row;
Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.

Pins 1 and 3 ( Yellow ) are for the Harddrive Activity LED.
The light in the front panel that flashes when the harddrive is actively being used.

Pins 2 and 4 ( Green ) are for the Power On LED.
The light in the front of the computer that shows when the computer is on.

Pins 5 and 7 ( Blue ) are for the Reset switch.
The Reset button on the front of the computer, IF, the computer came with one.

Pins 6 and 8 ( Red ) are for the Power On switch.
The Power On button on the front of the computer.

Pin 9 (Black) is for the +5 Volt power

Pin 10 is not used. (Not connected)

The reason I took you the long way, and did not just provide a link to the Front Panel header, is in case you need more information about your computer.

This way you'll have it.

Which connectors are used for front panel, power on (red @white) and led ( blue @ white) please show a close-up view

Hi,
On the motherboard the pinouts on the front panel should be colour coded, and marked with letters like in this picture >>>>>
ce10baf.jpg

The connectors are also marked corresponding to where the connect on the motherboard, like in this picture >>>>>>
66ce2fc.jpg

If the board is not colour coded then the motherboard will marked with the same letters, you may need a strong light to see the marks.

Regards.

MY GATEWAY GT5428 TURNS ON BUT WONT GO DIRECTLY TO MY DESKTOP IT JUST SHOWS A BLANK SCREEN OR A BLACKOUT SCREEN ON THE MONITOR BUT MY MODEM IS STILL ON HOW CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM

What do you mean it wont go directly to your desktop? Does it eventually reach your desktop? Also, what do you mean that you're modem is on, how do you know this? Is it an external modem or an internal modem? This could be something as simple as replacing the monitor or replacing the operating system or something more complex like the video card or the motherboard....

PLEASE

it's the driver that the motherboard need to make use of the PCI slots, so as you can connect cards into the slot, otherwise the cartd would not work.

As E210822 is not a good intel number, go here and find your motherboard
