Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Hello, I have a Haier window AC unit that makes the worst noises- sounds like a crinckeling plastic bag is being beaten around inside. It seems to be water building up, but there is no drainage holes in the back for it to drain. How do I get rid of this noise? I've tried everything- it's been raining out a lot lately, does that have anything to do with it? I take it out and drain it, only to have the noise return after 15 minutes. Please help!

Yeah the water that has pooled underneath is being hit by the fan, and throwing it everywhere. Don't be alarm it wont hurt nothing except the noise is irritating specially at night. Getting rid of the water will get rid of the noise.

AC units are suppose to be mounted tilted back slightly so the water that accumulate underneat from condesation flows out. You can see if leaves or something has bolcked the drainage hole.

Make sure there are no mouse nests in the unit. The mildew can be killed with Lysol spray or the like. Pay particular attention to the filter if it was moist or wet. You can clean the condenser fins with a vacuum. You can a fan next to the unit to disperse any moisture. Move the fan around the unit.

Haier hlp23e washer makes a rattling sound during spin that almost sounds like coins being slapped by an impeller. How do I fix?

Here's what I did that seemed to fix it. You know that plastic attachment you screwed onto the bottom? I'm pretty sure the noise is made by the bottom of the machine spinning against it. I thought the noise sounded sort of plastic-y, so I removed the bottom and sure enough, there were circular scratch marks on it. I haven't heard that annoying rattling yet.

Window air conditioner is spitting water

Hello, usually a window AC will spit water if the unit is not tilted back or if the drain is backed up, if the unit is level try tilting it back it the window somewhat. Also, if the unit does have a drain make sure it is not blocked.

When I turn the air conditioner off or on it makes a noise sounding like it is coming from the fan. It sounds like the fan might be loose but I'm not sure. What is the problem and what should I do?

Hello, you would need to take the top cover off the AC and check the fan, usually the hub of the fan breaks and becomes loose or sometimes just the clamp comes loose and the fan hits the housing. If the fan is cracked then you would need to replace just the fan on the unit. Here is a link or parts to your ac

My haier 5200 btu window ac is making funny nosies from the fan like its hitting something I have tryed to wash the outside of it but its still making noises

If you remove the unit from it's housing by sliding out, you can run it while it is out. This will enable you to see exactly where the sound is coming from. Very often it is because the unit is slightly out of alignment with the outer housing. This can be fixed with a spacer.

Ac making noise

sounds like the drain is clogged, it usually comes out if the outside of the unit just below the coil in the middle of the back, there may or may not be a hose attached to the front pan below the evaporator, try pressuring it up to blow it out. worst case you may have to remove from the window, disassemble and clean. hope this helps...

Haier AC HWR10xc6

Haier Air Conditioners do not have a drain hole or hose like most A/Cs. This problem can easily be solved by carefully drililng about an 1/8 or 1/4 inch hole in the bottom outside edge directly on the metal frame, around the cooling fins.... This will elt the water drain out...if you when outside and looked in while it was spitting you would see the water pooling up in there. Haier expects us to mount these units at an ungodly angle to drain the water, but drilling a small hole will help (really anywhere in that bottom plate would work since the whole bottom is a "drain pan"

Haier ESA 3185 AC won't cool; makes escalating loud vibrating noise near front panel/ filter

Have someone check the run capacitor of this unit. If the run capacitor is bad over shorted it can cause the unit to run and short cycle on a current overdraw. This makes for an electrical imbalance in the compressor motor. Next step is the compressor is faulty.
