The problem was not the power supply, if you had a green light before.

motherboards will not start up if the motherboard (northbridge) gets too hot. This is to save your CPU from overheating. Make sure that the CPU fan is on, and you can leave your case open, and not in your closet, to stay cool long enough to order a more efficient case with circulation. You probably upgraded graphics cards too? The new ones run hot.

Post back in a Comment as to the computer manufacturer name, and model number. (Plus questions I asked)

Found on the back for a desktop computer, usually next to the Windows product key; or up on the side of the computer tower (Case)
I have seen some models (Dell) that there is a small front door you open, and the model number is down towards the bottom, on the inside. (Of computer, not door)

While I wait for your reply, in the meantime unplug the power cable to the optical drive (CD/DVD drive), and the harddrive.
Remove the Ram Memory.

Plug the computer back into power. Motherboard LED light on?
We are removing some devices that require power, to see if the motherboard LED power light comes on.

Hold the phone..............or are you referencing to the Green LED light that is on the back of the Power Supply?

E system 1212 Laptop won't switch on. Power

Laptops are so integrated that usually a system failure that involves power issues such as in your case where you cant get it turn on with anything on the screen mean the mainboard (motherboard) is damaged. This usually leads to buying a new laptop or paying for the board to be replaced which usually costs as much as the laptop.

My computer won't start. Power supply (ttgi 450ss) has a blinking green light and the power supply fan starts when plugged in. Motherboard (asus m2npv-vm) has a green light illuminated between the pci...

See if you plugged in the 4 pin power connector on the motherboard besides the main power connection on the power supply (usually black colored and its a plastic 4 pin connector)

Try another power supply if all else fails. If new power supply does not work with this unit then its a motherboard which is blown and motherboard needs replacing.

Hope this helps

Computer wont start up. Blinking green light in the back of tower

I've had that happen twice to my Vaio desktop and there was a very easy fix. I'm not a techie, but I found a recommended solution online when this first happened six months ago. I couldn't find the solution again, but I fortunately remembered the steps.

Remove the side pane to access your motherboard cables, etc. Locate the connector on your motherboard that contains the wires going from your power supply to your motherboard. It will be a large, rectangular connector with a lot of individual wires It is not a ribbon cable but should be located next to a ribbon cable connector andnext to a geen blnking light on your motherboard (when the power supply is plugged into the wall). Note: This green blinking light is in addition to the green blinking light on the back of the PC.

This next step is important: You have to disconnect the connector noted above from the motherboard WHILE the power suply is plugged into the wall. Wait a few seconds and plug it back in. The blinking reen light on the motherboard should now be a solid green light. The PC should now power up.

It worked twice for me; I hope it works for you.

I have a mecer computer, LGA 775 motherboard asus and the problem is the computer turns on when switching on and there is no display it beeps non stop . CPU and power supply fans are working ,lights goes...

continuous beeping is Power supply, motherboard, cpu, or keyboard problem. somecases it can also be the memory.

start with the memory then cpu and powersupply and finally motherboard.

let me know if the beep code changes as you change components, count the short and long beeps.

Pover up trouble

sounds like something is drawing down on your 12 volt supply drives or on board regulators. Try it without the drives connectged, and see if you can get the system to boot up(you'll just get a notice that your drives are unavailable, but you'll already know that, right?

got backup for your Dell?

Intel emachine t3828

Geeze, after working on hardware for 27 years i love the short circut dummie. Anyway yes, it's the motherboard / yes the green light will still come on on that model and quite a few other models. Dont worry about repairing / i.e. removing components on the motherboard, it's a fruitless endevor but a great way to waste time. A motherboard for that model will cost about 100-150 bucks / easy replacement. It's actually rare for both the power supply and mother board to go out on a tower/mini tower type system. Older laptops had that type of prob. Those emachines were **** for the mostet part. On the other hand Gateway has really gone up in quality and i have been quite impressed with them in the last few years...
