Try turning on your power outlet. Or plugging the power cord into a different outlet that you have previously verified to work.

Loose power connection on motherboard of Satellite L640D-ST2N01

Toshiba Satellite laptops often have problems with their power connections becoming loose and losing contact between the positive pin on the DC power jack and the motherboard. Laptops are not designed to operate on the battery when the AC adapter is plugged into a viable power outlet. You will have to disassemble your Toshiba Satellite laptop to repair this problem. This task requires a thorough knowledge of laptop repair and safe soldering practices.

1. Disassemble your laptop according to the instructions for your specific Toshiba Satellite laptop model. Cut the plastic supports off the base assembly with a knife.

2. Cut off the plastic wall that encircles the mount opening with the knife. Extend the circumference of the hole by carving it open with the knife to make it wide enough for the new jack.

3. Bring the ends on the negative lead for the jack together and cover the ends with solder.

4. Remove the original DC power jack and trim the wires from the jack box with the knife, until they sit close to the edge of the jack box. Use the knife to strip the wires. Use your fingers to twist the wires together, and then coat the point where they meet with fresh solder. Locate the positive wire -- it is either red or green. Plug this wire into the positive lead on the new jack, and then find the negative black wire and attach it to the negative lead on the new jack.

5. Place the new power jack in the base, keeping enough extra space available for the plastic laptop cover and right speaker to fit back in later. Cover the negative and positive leads with the electrical tape, and then manually rotate the nut on the power jack clockwise until it will go no further.

6. Figure out which walls will stand in the way of the power jack after you secure the plastic laptop cover. Cut these walls out with the knife. Reverse the disassembling instructions you followed previously to put your laptop back together.

No power to machine to start it .. No neon indication of powere being availabe

Has the AC jack been damaged due to pulling on the cord? Remove the battery and try a different cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs. Using a Multimeter verify that your getting the proper DC volts at the cord plug that inserts into the laptop. If you are getting the proper voltage I would check the AC jack inside the laptop for a loose connection.

View mode is not working anymore, subject's head is cut off , not able to read any comments on screen either.

Look for any loose contacts in RC jacks/sockets/Cable. Try changing the input device to something you are sure works. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

Gateway kav60 not charging. i have to wiggle the cord and sometimes it refuses to charge.

I guess you've got a broken laptop power dc jack or power cable.

Symptoms of a broken Laptop DC power jack:

- The laptop only operates when you hold the DC power plug in a certain direction (DC jack is broken or loose).
- The laptop only runs on battery power (no power is getting through the DC jack).
- The laptop gets no power at all.
- The laptop will not charge the battery.
- The laptop switches from AC power to battery power intermittently due to a loose or broken power jack.
- The laptop suddenly shuts off.
- The DC jack may feel loose.
- Sparks come out of the back of the laptop when you insert the power plug into the DC jack.

The external speakers attached to my m audio prokeys 88sx are no longer working. I have replaced the fuses in both but the fuses blow on power up. I then used the keyboard with a set of headphones. One of...

It is NOT likely the keyboard is "killing the speakers"... OR the headphones for that matter.

I suspect the problem is bad switch contacts in the headphone jack that cut off the speaker line outputs when headphones are plugged into the pro keys. These jacks are, to put it bluntly, JUNK... they are EASILY damaged by pulling the cable plugged into them sideways. You will need to service the unit.

Power socket is loose

dc jack socket for Sony VAIO VGN-FW is very easy to loose, I think you can replace the cabled dc jack, no solder work, plug in and work, see this reference page: http://www.lapdiy.com/sony-vaio-vgnfw-series-power-jack-port-connector-dc-in-cable-p-2647.html
the above item is with ground cable, it is known that sony FW uses both harnesses with or without ground cable, you can cut the ground cable directly if your laptop does not use it, or order from this page for the one without ground cable: http://www.lapdiy.com/sony-vaio-07300012492a-power-jack-port-connector-dc-in-cable-p-2782.html
hope this can help you

I have Jack Lalanne Power Juicer 250 Watts and it will switch on. I have changed the fuse, but to no effect. Any suggestion?

The stainless bar should be on the correct slots on top of the juicer. It has a safety switch on those bars. Smell the motor from under the juicer, it should not smell like burnt. Press hard on the switch, it might be loose.
