Leaking oil and smoking from rear axle.


it seems that your axle shafts and such were just changed and the surfaces were never looked at that ate up those seals in the first place.. the brakes are adjusted too tight and this is also causing heat to buld up in the wheels..this can also burn out the seals and cause failure..gotta take it all apart again and check the bearing seal surfaces for any burrs or reasons for these seals to get cut up.. also when reinstalling these put some gear oil on the seal surfaces so they arent dry-ran on the shafts..this will destroy them also.. clean off the oil on the brake surfaces wit carb cleaner so it will evaporate quickly then reassemble..wheels shouild spin freely with little drag on them while turning by hand..

If you can see inside the wheel bearings then they require lubrication from the differential. If they are sealed then no. You don't say if the rear axles are 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton. No brand of seal will seal better than any other. Spray engine degreaser in the rear end and flush out with water. You may need to do that more than once.

I need an exploded view or instruction so I can install the front wheel onto the forks of my 1991 HD Ultra Classic. Anyone? Thanks


There shouldn't be anything to putting the front wheel on your bike. On each side of the wheel, there is a seal and a "spacer" inside the seal. If this is spacer is in the seal on each side of your wheel, put the wheel between the forks and slide the axle in. The large end of the axle pulls all the way in against the "spacer" on that side and this pulls the "spacer" on the other side tight against the fork on the other side. Tighten the axle nut to 50-60 foot pounds and the clamp bolts to 25 foot pounds of torque. My scooter is making loud clicking sounds as though something has come loose & hitting something in the rear wheels as it goes around. The repair tech rotated the rear tires last week & this helped...


Its quite common for Pride scooters to be assembled using little or no grease on the rear axle. If the noise is like a stone stuck in the tyre, its probably a 'Dry Axle' as mentioned above. Try just removing the rear wheel(s) and greasing the axle. This normally cures the problem. When removing the wheel, be careful not to lose the hub key which slots into the axle and wheel to stop the wheel spinning freely on the axle. Hope this helps.

Back wheels make a loud clicking noise


Hi. Loud clicking noises from the rear wheels are usually caused by movement of the square steel key that fits into a groove on the axle inside the wheel hub. This is what drives the wheels.
You will probably get a click for each revolution of the wheels.
To fix it, remove the rear wheels and wipe a thin smear of grease on the key and axle, then replace the wheels.
The grease will allow the key to move slightly without making a noise, and help stop it from wearing.
It sometimes helps to also remove the front wheels, and wipe a thin smear of grease onto the front stub axles. There is no key in the front hubs, but the grease helps to prevent the bearings siezing on to the axles.

I want to clean can i run thru with vinger,bleach and what else can i do?


With the machine off, open the door and spray Clorox Clean-Up inside of the front rubber door seal/gasket. You should be able to gently flex the rubber seal to get inside of its cavity. This is where mold, etc. tends to accumulate. After a minute or so, brush or wipe away any debris that has accumulated. Be careful not to wear good clothes! Once you have completed the gasket/seal cleaning, begin a hot water cycle with no detergent to thoroughly rinse the bleach from the door seal/gasket.

From then on, occassionally glance inside the gasket/seal to see whether there is a build-up of mold, etc. and repeat the aforementioned process.

Front windows freeze shut nearly every day when temperature below 25 degrees


You could try applying silicone spray on the rubber seals around the window. This usually helps prevent them from freezing and actually cleans and conditions the seals.

Wheels often sieze themselves onto the hubs, Best thing is to jack the car up , place it on an axle stand, and hit the wheel rim, from inside out, place a piece of ragon the rimwhere you will hit it, one firm followed through hit, with a sledge hammer, you will need to rotate the wheel each time you hit the rim. Once the wheel is off, do what you must and on refitting, clean the area of the hub and the wheel parts where they mate with a wire brush, ideally after that if you can get some copperslip or grease, smear some around the wheel rim inner part and the hub where they mate. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES use the grease on the wheel studs, nuts or bolts, as it can cause the wheel fixture (nut or bolt ) to undo and the wheel can fall off. Hope that helps
