How to connect your PS3 to the internet

In this guide I will go over the steps you need to take in order to connect your Ps3 to the internet either wired or wireless.

Wireless Connection
-Your home router should be configured for wireless and you should know your wireless routers security information. Make sure an Ethernet cable is not connected to the PS3.
-Turn on your console and select Network Settings under the Settings option in the main menu.
-Select the "Internet Connection Settings" tab and then select Yes when prompted.
-For the installation type select "Easy"
-Select "Wireless" when prompted for your connection type.
-Select "Scan". Your system will scan and show all available wireless access points within range.
-Select your home access point from the list.
-Select your security settings and enter your encryption key. Save your settings
Make sure to select Test Connection to make sure the connection is working properly.

Wired Connection

You will have the same steps as a wireless connection, except once you select "Easy", you will be prompted for your wired connection settings. Normally, in a home environment, you are using DCHP and the IP address as well as DNS information is all obtained automatically from your router.

Be sure to select Test Connection afterwards

Ok. You should now be connected to the internet. Enjoy!

I would like to know when it say laptop with built in wireless. Does that mine i already got internet service on it. Or i have to buy USB modem.

Hello Blac,

All the laptops available in market have built in wireless 802.11 b/g/n or 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth® wireless networking. It means that you can access the internet via Wi-Fi or through Wi-Fi hotspots. In wireless connectivity you do not require the wired connection to access the internet. In home you can connect the laptop via wireless connection using the home networking router available in market. The advantage of wireless connection is that you can use the internet in your home anywhere with in 100 meters of range with proper wireless signals. You will require to get the internet connection from the ISP(Internet Service Provider).

Internet Connection Problem on One Computer

By any chance, are you trying to use something other than Windows to manage the wireless adapter? If you are, remove it.

Now, Click on Start, right click on Network highlight properties, and click on manage network connections on the Tasks menu.
Your two options will be the icons for your LAN and Wireless Network. Is it enabled and without red or yellow marks? It could be disable, it could be not connected and you can't view wireless networks because the switch is off, or it may just nut see your unsecure network (unlikely).

If the above is clear, right click on the wireless and highlight Properties and left click so it brings up the Networking tab. Highlight IPv4 and click on Properties. Make sure the Obtain dots are ticked. That should work, since you are running unsecured.
If it already is, check the red X or if it isn't click OK and close down the box.

Now, back to where your Wireless card is showing, right click it and you have Disable, Connect/Disconnect, Status, Diagnose etc.

If you're still Disconnected but not Disabled, click on Connect/Disconnect. Does it show your wireless network?

By this time, it should. If it doesn't post back. The other possibility is that you take your computer to a wireless internet cafe, McDonalds, Panera Bread, or motel with WiFi and test it there.

Do you have any firewall installed on your computer?
If so, try disabling it. If it doesnt work, keep going.

does your modem have a green light on the "internet" or "activity" status? if not, you have a problem in your modem.
