The current CMOS battery is soldered onto the motherboard under the keyboard - you need to have soldering skills to remove and replace the battery or take the computer to someone who can do it for you. Be careful who you ask - that is a collector's item!

My BIOS password is not being accepted by my computer (Toshiba Satelite). Can you give me a default password for the laptop?

Bios password can be broken ........... but for that you need to unplug the CMOS battery out of the laptop for few second. But for this you need to disassemble the laptop and find the cmos battery , which is usually lies inside the laptop. I prefer this to be done by some professional. If you dont have any idea..

There are other many ways to do this but for that you need to have great technical knowledge in computer...... you can have a look at this link : http://faq.programmerworld.net/ms_windows/bios_password.htm

I am not sure of the problem, I cant turn the computer on for more than a min before it shuts off. it says cmos battery went out. I read that I may need to replace it but is there another way before I buy...

Reset a battery? CMOS contains the low level settings for your computer, if the battery has gone then so to have the settings and more importantly the clock won't work. The clock is needed for the computer to run, as everything needs to be timed accurately.

So short answer...get the battery changed. You may also need to set up the cmos again.

Hi dear friend i have notebook acer 4315,i lost password setup and i cant work with computer ,becuase i cant enter to system,i would like how to reset bios password.plz help me its urgent best regards

Hi,

If you have forgot BIOS password then you have to reset CMOS jumper setting. Please follow the below steps: Open the Laptop back panel. Locate the CMOS battery, remove it & then with the help of a screw driver keep on pressing the terminal inside it and turn ON the computer for 10 secs and Turn Off (make sure you keep on pressing the terminal with a screwdriver while turning ON). It will short the BIOS setting. Now, fix the CMOS battery & restart the computer. This will take care of the issue.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha
