When the service company put the refrigerant gas in, it sounds like they didn't check for leaks. You could bring them back under the repair warranty.
Worth the fix? If it is the small home type fridge, probably not worth spending money on it as they are inexpensive. If it is a larger class fronted commercial unit, it probably is worth it.
Hello, yes the unit can be recharged but you need to install a piercing valve on tje low side of the system to charge in the refrigerant here is a link to where you can buy piercing valves. http://www.globalindustrial.com/g/hvac/parts/ac_accessories/Supco-Acces-Valves
Call back who ever fixed the leak, you still have one. After fixing the leak make sure the drier is changed, system evacuated to at least 500 microns, then do a standing test. Meaning let the unit stand with the micron gauge connected. The unit should hold a vacuum. A slow rise indicates moisture, whereas a rapid rise indicates a leak.
Sorry about your problems. The StopLeak is expensive and does not work on leaks larger than 8 ounces per year. Neither of these "technicians" confirmed the location of the leak and repaired it. When the vacuum was done on the system a leak would have been obvious after the first tech replaced a valve. If they did not see a rise in pressure, they are incompetent. I apologize for not having an answer for you, but, without being there and checking your system,I do not know what your specific problem is.
refrigerators dont come with shrader valves. U must buy a clamp on or weld one on the low side. The clampons are not expensive and are called Bullet piercing valve BPV 31 and fit 3 sizes. Unfortunately u also have a leak somewhere. Most refrigerators use either R12 or 134a
1. try cleaning the condenser it's gotta to have some dirt.
(if it looks clogged, turn the unit off and spray the condenser with a water hose!) it should throw out some dirt
if you did step 1 and still no cooling suspect a small refrigerant leak.
most of the times if its r-134a, i go down to autozone and buy a stop leak for r-134a and charge it into system.
also if theres a refrigerant leak,i'd get a tech to check and correct leak (if he finds it) but that's worse case scenario :) I'd go with dirty condenser.... email me at [email protected] if you need more info.
