Can't boot up Dell 5100 Dimension, amber light flashes

Can't boot up Dell 5100 Dimension, plugged in power cable, heard one click and then amber light flashes.

    Sorry kind of confusing... the power button had amber light flashing and codes show 1, 2, 3 and then it becomes quite..

    I tried again and now not even see error codes on the panel, just the power button has amber light flashing, fan is not running, so quite, not evening hearing click any more.

When you mean the amber light, is that the blinking hard drive access light or the power light? Different cases have different colors on it. Mine has blue and green lights.

If you see the boot screen (bios) and then after it goes to boot, does it blink and hang?

This could be a simple operating system issue, hard drive or hardware/motherboard issue. If you could provide more information, that would help.

My dell dimension 8400 canot boot up at all and the Diagnostic Lights not light oso..so wat i can do?


The POWER and DIAG LEDs can give you information. If no DIAG LED look at the POWER LED

Flashing amber, most likely the power supply
Solid Amber, motherboard or item plugged into the motherboard (Expansion card, external connection etc.)

Amber light flashing on my dell 5100, green light on motherboard


The green light just means it is plugged in and getting power.Try pulling the plug, the green light will go out. If you can remove the battery out of the motherboard, "it looks like a quarter", leaveit out for a couple minutes and out it in 'The same way it was" make sure you "look" at it before removing it, it has a little release thatenables it to lock in, or pop out. plug it in and give it a start. It may just be the settings got corrupted, that little battery saves the start settings, once it starts, we can go into the bios if any settings need changing, I'll keep an eye on this post, good luck

Dell Dimension 5150 will not boot. Flashes amber light


I had the same issue with my Dell Dimension 5150 and I replaced the front I/O USB Audio Panel and it booted right up.

Dimension 5100 wont power up


check powersupply, boot into recovery console and run chkdsk /r if able, and yes you can mirror the drive and recover data. may also be able to do repair install.

Can't power up Dimension 5100


Is this a DELL system? E series ?
Well , you'll have to reseat the memory chip on the motherboard and check for other power connectors.. but please try this only if you're sure that there is NO display at all and the system will just not start up!
Please make sure you disconnect any peripheral devices and the power cable before opening the chassis!

Dell Dimension 5100 Won't start up


Hi

First disconnecting the power cord and re-seat all connections (Keyboard, Mouse espercially). Connect up the power cord and try powering the PC.

To help you troubleshoot a problem, Dell Dimension 5100 has four diagnostic lights labeled "1," "2," "3," and "4" on the front panel. When the computer starts normally, the lights flash. After the computer starts, all four lights display solid green. If the computer malfunctions, the color and sequence of the lights identify the problem.

If the computer failed to start up check the diagnostic lights color and sequence and Check the link below for more info (Assuming you have another system that can access internet)

Alternatively, contact Dell Support with the diagnostic lights color and sequence to raise a service call if the system if under warranty.

Power light on case blinks amber


Your motherbaord is shorted out, replace it, you can get the numbers off it and put in in on the web and you can find out what kind it is. put that in ebay and you can find some new ones with a good price.
