Paul is on the right ball - it sounds like fuel - turn over the engine with the pipe disconnected until the fuel comes through - if you don't succeed, consult a reputable shop - you need someone that knows what they are talking about to physically look at the car to solve the problem - this will save you a lot of time and expense. ?

No engine option stated.
you said GAS so i must assume its not the Diesel.
is the immoblizer lamps and secuity lamps happy? in the dash cluster
if not, BINGO>. (oper. guide tells how to start the engine and that)
next for Gas engine,s is to check spark after you check the fuses
in the fuse box.

Take the fuel feed pipe off after the filter and prime the fuel up till the fuel comes out and then you know the filter is full and then the fuel pump will take over !

holly, if still here, bet not, running the tank dry is bad the fuel pump is fuel lubricated and fuel cooled, so running any car dry (EFI) invites blown tank pump or a very short life. operators guide does warn of this.. weakly.

2012 Kia Sportage Instrument cluster dead--tac, odo, temp, gas

On the back of the instrument panel is a voltage stabilizer, so the charge rate does not affect the gauges, if all gauges have stopped functioning it is possible the stabilizer has lost its power supply or the unit has gone open circuit.

replace your gas cap and clear codes, then wait and see if light comes back on, if it does you have a more serious problem like a fuel tank leak or a defective fuel tank pressure sensor.
