Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Maytag refrigerator model MTB1504ARS I moved into an apartment with the above mentioned fridge. I switched the doors' opening sides for convenience. When I reassembled it I noticed that it had been missing the ''dummy plug'' that took the place of the freezer's hinge which is now on the other side. Consequently, the freezer has not been sealing well. I need that plug to raise and level the freezer door. Please advise. Thank you.

We are trading in our small MayTag refrigerator Model MTB1504AR made in Jul 2005 for a larger (22 cu ft) model. Can you tell me if the MTB1504AR was Energy Star Qualified?

I don't think so ... if your refrigerator is qualified , it must bear a yellow sticker with red stars of your rating on the front side itself.
Kindly rate my answer if you are satisfied or not. Thanks a lot . Good day to you . Deepak Richard

Try opening the doors and moving it through the doorway with the doors open? If you have the room twisting the fridge around the doorway with the doors open my work.

Sizziling red hot coil in rear bottom of freezer (side by side)

That's the defrost heater. The defrost sensor has failed. The freezer has to be taken apart to find the sensor. It is usually round, with a couple of wires going to it.

Maytag MSD2651HES fridge not cooling freezer works find

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.

Maytag fridge

Without knowing the type of fridge(side by side, freezer on top etc.) all I can offer is this: Somewhere between the freezer and the fridge there's an opening thermostatically controlled to transfer cold air from freezer to the fridge. Most have a fan to move the air. So either the fan (if so equipped) stopped, and need to replace, or opening is stuck closed, or plugged.
If freezer is working fine, this is the only problem I can think of.
Hope this helps

is it frozen up? do you have any air flow thru the air tunnel from the freeze to the fridge? Check your air flow with the door switch pushed in. also check to see if the damper door opens... 1) if it is iced up you have a defrost problem. most likely a defrost timer. Turn off or unplug untill all the ice has melted off the evaporator back of the freezer..plug back in and it will work fine untill the ice builds up again. if this work you do have a defrost problem.. if not let me know and we can go deeper...
