Question about HP Compaq Business d530 Ultra-Slim PC Desktop
Whne trying to power on the red led light at the front of the unit is constantly flashing and will not power on, any ideas ?
It all depends on the number of flashes , pause, repeat.
Since the problem did not indicate any beeps her is the following info
Power LED blinks RED 2 times, one every second, followed by a
2-second pause. = Processor Thermal Protection Activated
3 blinks 1 second apart = Processor not installed (not an indicator for a bad processor).
4 blinks 1 second apart .= Power Failure (power supply is overloaded)
Other possibilities are:
5 blinks 1 second apart No memory
6 blinks 1 second apart No graphics
7 blinks 1 second apart System board failure (detected prior to video)
8 blinks 1 second apart Invalid ROM

I have the same problem on my HP Compaq d530 . . . at first, I thought it was the power supply, but then I removed all my other components (even the processor and power supply fans) with only the motherboard and power supply plugged in, it still blinked. I removed the onboard battery for a while to reset the bios . . . and then put everything back together . . . for some unknown reason, it came back to life . . . don't know what I did right/wrong . . . maybe just something loose

Do you hear and beeping, or other sounds, or is it totally lifeless, with only a flashing red light?
if there are beeps, can you find them here: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/compaqbeep.htm ?
