Blank screen
This could be due to many issues. The most likely in my mind are:
1. A dead hard drive, but then at least the BIOS should come up
2. A shorted out or disconnected video connection (it connects at the hinge where the laptop screen folds down)
3. A plugged in USB device that the computer is trying to boot from
About #3, seriously, I've seen it happen. No BIOS, no Windows screen. Just a blank screen and a beep until you remove the USB device.
