It means that the HDD is not getting detected on the computer.
Try resetting BIOS.
If that doesnt help, check whether your HDD is bad.

Sounds like the BIOS upgrade didn't take. Those beep codes are audible indicators that the motherboard has failed POST (Power On Self Test).

hi, U can remove Bios battery and put it back after 5 mint, this will put Bios to Factory settings.

Try to update your machine's BIOS. Download it from the internet (search for the Gateway drivers - bios).

Reset your bios settings to "Bios defaults", then disable power management.
In Windows, go to device manager and try to detect new hardware. Follows screen instructions.

This could be due to many issues. The most likely in my mind are:

1. A dead hard drive, but then at least the BIOS should come up
2. A shorted out or disconnected video connection (it connects at the hinge where the laptop screen folds down)
3. A plugged in USB device that the computer is trying to boot from

About #3, seriously, I've seen it happen. No BIOS, no Windows screen. Just a blank screen and a beep until you remove the USB device.
