I recently moved from one place to another. My speakers were working fine. I hooked them up to my computer and now there's static sound coming from the speakers nothing else. The wires look in good...

Try another set of speakers on that motherboard. If you still get static then you know the sound chipset on the motherboard is going bad. At that point you can replace the motherboard or buy a sound card that plugs into one of the PCI slots. If you try different speakers and they work then you know the old speakers are bad.

Buzzing static sound in speaker

Static can be caused by a few things.

Does the static persist if you unplug the audio cable from your computer?
If so, the static is being caused by the amplifier built in to your speakers.
If not, the static is probably caused by interference on your sound card. Try plugging the speakers in to a portable media player. You might need to replace the sound card in your computer.

Static from desktop speakers

Sound card may be bad. Uninstall all software and drivers for the sound card. Remove the sound card and clean the gold contacts gently with a pink pencil eraser to remove oxidation and make them shiny. install sound card in a different slot if available. Install driver and try again. test with headphones too. If still just static, try newer sound card driver. If still no good get a new sound card.

Try playing around on the volume control panel. The pan might have been played with, along with other things.

Have you tried the balance and fader control?
Also make sure the ground or - negative wire has a good connection for that speaker from the back of the unit. Or it could be the internal amplifier it self.

My harman/kardon speakers has static noise but no sound

The first thing is to make sure the speakers are bad. You can seitch them around from side to side if only one of them is bad, if the one speaker still has bad sound, thats your problem. You can also test the woofer of the speakers. Just push in on the woofer with your fingers to move the woofer in and out (with the stereo off). You should here nothing, if you do, the speaker is bad. If both speaker are bad, expecially if they went bad at the same time, the stereo is bad, expecially if you are getting the static with the stereo on and the volume all the way down. Going buy your problem I thing that your stereo is bad. It will need tobe repaired.
