Question about Lexmark X2500 All-In-One Printer

2 Answers

The Color Cartridge that I Refilled does not show to have been replaced . Lexmark has some kind of bug in software that will not allow me to refill my own cartridges, is there any way around this? (X2500) I used my own refilled cartridges on old printer. (HP 1315)

I wiped contacts on cartridge and contacts that mate in printer with alcohol, no help. Is the sensor located on these contacts?

  • mrbillmoo384 Jun 29, 2009

    Where is the sensor locared?

  • mrbillmoo384 Jun 29, 2009

Thanks for working with me on this. (solution #1) I see on cartridge what might very well be sensor contacts, one large flanked by two smaller of same size, cleaned them with alcohol; no help.

Since there is nothing to mate up with them when inserting cartridge, they are located on curve near front bottom on contact surface, I am guessing when printer top is closed and printer is in print mode is when these sensors are read. At this end it looks as if the printer will have to be dismantled. I feel there should be a file under Lexmark; program files that will stop this do do if deleated. Any ideas.

When you buy an ink cartridge, the reason you pay that high price is to pay for the electronic chip that feeds the hard drive on your printer which is how the fill level sensor works. Wipe the sensor with an alcohol wipe and retry.

Look at the ink cartridge and you will see the sensor contacts, usually three little metal spots. Note where these are pointing when cartridge is inserted. That is where you will find the sensors.

I did find one other notation in a tech manual. If the cartridge is overfilled, the level read will not function until some of the ink is used. If the printer is working and only not showing the level, try printing several sheets to use up some of the ink and perhaps the level indicators will reset. Good Luck.

I can find no other remedy available except that the cartridges may be overfilled.

I just installed two refilled lexmark cartridges color and black yet printer is reading black cartridge missing and color cartridge missing. I am unable to print

Refilled cartridges become unreliable and can damage your printer - you will need to try an original Lexmark cartridge before considering replacing your printer.

Refilled ink cartridges at Walgreens, printer won't recognize

Hello!
28 and 29 are not meant to be refilled. They can physically be refilled, but they won't work. That is because Lexmark has put in a smart chip that doesn't allow refill.
You need to buy 28A and 29A or 34 and 35, those cartridges can be refilled with no problem.

Refilled cartridge , printer says right cartridge incorrect

Lexmark builds intelligence into their cartridges and printers to prevent the use of refilled cartridges.

Lexmark has never approved the use of anyone else's ink for their printers primarily because there is no way to prove the quality of the ink.

Please purchase a Lexmark cartridge.

Refilled cartridge, still says it needs to be replaced...

If you let the cartridge run totally dry then they need to be reset or replaced, I have tried purchasing reset software myself and found then to be a waist of money as they do not reset the cartridge at all. Do yourself a favor and replace the cartridge and remember to top up the cartridges before they get half empty.

Printer won't print-says color cartridge is missing and it is there

Just a shot in the dark, was it a refilled ink cartridge. I know HP has a problem detecting the remanufactured cartridges from time to time. And too, if it is not refilled cartridge perhaps you just have a bad cartridge.
Oh, of course Julie remembered to pull the tape off of the bottom of the ink cartridge, correct?
Hope this did some good, please leave rating,
thank you kindly.

Lexmark does not allow refilled cartridge on any of their products.

Lexmark, HP and Canon and-many other vendors use proprietary code to protect themselves against the damage of OEM inks.

All companies will void warranties.

Lexmark x1270 not printing in color

Is the cartridge a Lexmark cartridge or a refilled cartridge?

Remove the cartridge from the printer, take a damp paper towell and wipe the cartridge in one direction on the bottom. Is Ink coming out? If yes then put the cartridge back in the printer and try to print again. If the answer is no and the cartridge is brand new you need to return it to you point of sale and get a new one as its a bad cartridge.

If the cartridge is a refilled cartridge that is probably the problem. Lexmark printers do not support refilled cartridges.

Thanks
Catherine

I need help with getting my printer to read that I refilled the Cartridge!

There are many different tries I have read about & even suggested to people & tried my self. Most fail & I end up feeling bad. The truth about most printers one way or another they keep track of the cartridges. (They remember). Some have small chip & others keep track through software. If your going to re-fill your cartridges I suggest you keep three cartridges handy for each color. Mark them 1 2 3. As one emties use the next & so on. Never allow the ink to dry up in a cartridge & always store them standing up. If you lay them on their side the ink may dry at the nozzles. (Not Good). If you receive an error that a refilled cartridge needs replaced. Ignore it & see it still prints. It just may. Bottom line. Printers are cheep & theres a reason. I'll bet you already know why. You know it! Cause the ink cost more. Two replacements & you could have bought a new printer, maybe three. So Hansonkirk, for now buy your lexmark ink new & when it emties drop a refilled in. Keep your refilled cartridges in a cool dark place waiting it's turn.
