SOURCE: water pooling and freezing inside bottom freezer

I had the same problem with my LRFC25750 and have finally figured out what's happening! The water that is pooling and freezing on the bottom of the freezer is definitely coming from the defrost cycle. It is pooling inside the freezer compartment because the drain inside the back of the freezer intended to carry the defrost water down to the external evaporator tray underneath is blocked with ice. As a result, the defrost water from the coils overflows the collector under the coils and runs down the inside back of the freezer, pools on the bottom, and re-freezes when the cycle is over. this continues until there's so much ice on the bottom that the water from next defrost cycle runs out on the floor. The "easy" solution is to unplug the unit and let it completely melt out (this could take 24-36 hours). I couldn't wait, so I removed the freezer drawers and their tracks and pulled out the back panel inside the freezer -- saw the ice in the collector and blocking the drain and I melted it away with hot water and verified that water could now flow down to the external evaporator tray. Unless you want to do this, I'd say give it a good 24-36 hours for all the ice to melt away. I think it all started when we left the freezer door ajar for a whole day and probably had a lot of frost build-up on the coils. The next defrost cycle was not enough to clear all the frost and things began to build up from there. Once the drain is frozen, though, you're finished -- the defrost heater doesn;t reach down that far and you have to melt it down completely or it will continue to leak forever. I've heard that you can get a drain heater to ensure that the drain never freezes over or at least so that it is sure to clear with each defrost cycle. I'll post an update if I locate one.

Check the bridge size adjustment at the top of the metal grid that the ice forms on. This determines the size of the cubes. Whenever you make a repair on the water system, especially on an older unit. make sure the unit is clean. A little bit of calcium deposits (or that other nasty looking stuff) getting into the passage ways will make it run erratically, and can drive you nuts.

SOURCE: Ice maker feeding too much water and overflows

There is nothing wrong with the icemaker if infact it is "overflowing". Be carefull not to confuse "overflowing" with the ice maker leaking. Nevertheless, if the icemaker is "overflowing" with water and is still making "BIG" ice cubes then you need to replace the water valve located behind the refrigerator in the compressor department. Hint: it is blue.... Also, you may want to hire an appliance person to do this for you. Should cost around $200 to have fixed.... goodluck..

Note: If you determine that the icemaker is not "overflowing" but instead is "leaking" water then you need to replace icemaker instead of water valve. One more tid bit of information for you, Its bad when I can look at the model number and know EXCATLY what your fridge looks like! This GE fridge will give you cooling problems in the near future. Turn off during thunderstorms, too many flicker's of electricty will burn up the computer board on your fridge costing you around $400 big ones.. In the water reservoir there is a tube that maintains the water height during operation. It fits in the overflow drain hole and keeps the water level at the proper level. This tube is either not installed into the bottom of the reservoir properly or it is broken.
Hope this helps

Excessive Water Overflow

reduce the water pressure at the inlet valve so the trough fills up during harvest but doesn't overflow too much. There is a restrictor you can put in the valve entry, or you can just turn the tap to partly close it.

Water keeps running

where is the water running on the ice head or is this a remote water cooled condenser? If water is running all the time at the ice head into the sump tray and overflowing into the ice bin then check the water inlet valve ether rebuild or replace valve but make sure the water low sensor is not calling for water when the sump tray is full of water.

I have a SCOTSMAN ICE MAKER MODEL NUMBER CM250AE-1E and the water coming into the machine never stops. It fills the tray until the water runs out the drain in the back of the machine.

I ran a service call on this model today with the same exact problem. I diagnosed it with a bad fill valve. The valve is not closing all the way and therefore lets water in all the time. With yours, the problem could be a bad timer or a bad microswitch or a bad valve. Hard to tell without looking.
