i have contacted orange who is my provider they say nothing wrong at their end and it must be Norton 360 that the fault lie,s i spent a good hour this afternoon and they eventually put the blame back to orange ,it is now getting to be a real headache hope you can help

  • douglas976 Jul 02, 2009

orange got me to do that ,it took about 10mins but that did,nt cure the fault

  • douglas976 Jul 02, 2009

thanks for prompt reply. i did as you instructed and changed the outgoing port from 25 to 2525 i then closed and reopened windows mail as instructed tried to send an email to myself but still no joy

  • douglas976 Jul 03, 2009

i,m afraid yhat dos,nt work as you can,t forward from the outbox

  • douglas976 Jul 05, 2009

Here is the answer to your questions

    1. The email programme i am using is Windows mail.

    2. tha anti virus programme is Norton 360 who i have been in contact with . they uninstalled then installed their programme and found nothing wrong with their service.

    3. Iam using Windows vista.

    4. Ihave,nt installed or downloaded any computer programmes

    5. Iwill now endeavour to update you on what is happening with my emails at present.

When i send an email to myself it lands in the outbox and it stays their.

When i click on the outbox it says "No message found" and their is nothing in the sentbox or the inbox.

When i logout a small window comes up saying you have a message in your outbox shall we send it , i then click on yes and log out.

When i start up again and click on Windows mail the message has arrived in my inbox but still nothing in my sent box ,so i would have no idea if a message was being received at another email address and the outbox still has the same" no message found" I hope this is enough info for you to sort me out Douglas 976

  • douglas976 Jul 06, 2009

As you suggested i have downloaded windows live mail . All seems well and i have tried a trial email to America , i expect a reply tomorrow if everything is ok ,i will let you know as soon as i do.

As for windows mail i tried changing the outgoing port to 587 but no difference i also tried 564 but just the same . "EXASPERATING"

Before I progress this any further

1) What email program are you using? Is it windows live mail or outlook express or some other program - please identify the exact program you use for email.

2) I take it you are using Norton 360 as your antivirus program. Do you have any other antivirus program or firewall running on your machine?

3) Is it Windows XP or Vista or some other operating system you are using?

4) Have you downloaded or installed any computer programs around the time that this started - if so what were they?

It is impossible to progress a solution to this problem without this information and I am surprised at solutions being offered in the absence of this basic info.

I can say however that It is extremely unlikely that Orange are the root cause of your problem. It is much more probable that this is caused by an internal conflict or error on your computer.

As soon as you provide this information I will be happy to try and help.

Ok - first can you open Windows Mail.

    Click on Tools

    Click on Options

    Click on Send

Please ensure that the box saying send messages immediately is ticked.

Close Windows Mail altogether then reopen it - try an email and let me know if this resolves the problem. If not we will troubleshoot some more!

I should add Norton is one antivirus program that is known to play up hell with Windows Mail with a lot of users reporting issues and conflicts such as this.

If the problem has not resolved as I outlined above by going through the Tools option in Windows Mail I would suggest that next you upgrade to Windows Live Mail which is the latest version from Microsoft. It is much more resistent to these conflicts with antivirals.

You can download it directly fron Microsoft here http://download.live.com/wlmail Simply follow the instructions on screen.

This download will include all the latest Windows Mail updates and hopefully will resolve the issue.

If your issue is resolved - please remeber to click through and rate my answer. Alternatively post a comment and I will continue to work through the problem with you.

You are using the Windows Mail (for Vista), you mentioned that you could receive but unable to send messages, right?

You just need to configure your Windows Mail and change the Outgoing server smtp port number. Here's how:

1. Open your Windows Mail.
2. Click on Tools > Accounts > Mail tab.
3. Double-click the account that you have created (e.g. pop3.example.com or imap.example.com)
4. Go to the Properties of it and then click on Advanced tab.
5. Change the port number of the Outgoing server SMTP.

You may use either of the following Outgoing ports:

25, 2525, 587 or 465 (SSL) and then click on Save or OK.

Close and re-open your Windows Mail and try sending a test mail.

Have a great day!

You said that you changed the Outgoing port from 25 to 2525, right? Did you try using the port 587? If not, try using 587 and see if that will do any help.

Hi Douglas,
I think you may have to perform a system restore, this will undo any settings that may have been changed, do you know how to perform one?

Seems to be an issue with Windows Mail at the moment. Please try Windows Live Mail (the new version). It should work. It is located here.

Warmest regards

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How do I delete a blocking sent email on my ipad?

This is one way I've found to delete an email stuck in the outbox (which is what it "sounds like" you are asking...)

1. change ya smtp settings so the message defo wont send!
2. send a test email to anyone
3. it will attempt to send but oversiously fail...
4. hopefully the outbox should be listed with 1 message waiting to go out...
5. if not, try going into the Activity Window and canceling the send command, that should show it up...
6. click the Outbox and the will be one message listed...
7. goto View -> then Show Favourites Bar
8. you should see a favourites bar appear...
9. simply drop and drag the Outbox into your favourites bar...
10. if you restart ur laptop or close mail and then the Outbox has disappeard, simply click the Outbox in you favourites tab and woop woop it should appear in the Side Bar

Problem NOT t.v....tab 3 tablet. when hitting send.. message goes to OUTBOX..not familiar with outbox..cannot release message to send. stays in outbox, message unsent..

Your problem is not with the tablet but with the email client. You need to connect the client on the tablet with a valid email account that you have elsewhere. The email account will have details to help you do this.

I can't turn on Outlook. I tried to send an email

First of u should know about he limit of attachment, if its ur orgazniation email account then u should ask for the attachement sending policy most organizations r allowing only 5 mb attachment to send, if you r using gmail with outlook then gmail will allow u to send up to 20 mb attachment. before u cancel the message from the outbox u need to cancle the send/recive once that cancled u will be able to easily delete the message from outbox.if you r not able to open outlook u need to close ur outlook from taskmanager , open the process tab and close the outlook.exe session. or you can restart your computer and open ur outlook. u can open ur outlook safe mode to delete that sending file.

Microsoft Outlook

If you attempt to send a message that is too large for your mail server you may be unable to delete it from the Outbox.

First, try setting Outlook offline using the File, Offline menu. Wait about a minute or so or close Outlook and reopen.
If you are unable to delete the message while in offline mode or cannot go into offline mode, you'll need to change your default delivery location.

  1. Add a new PST using the File, New, Outlook Data File menu.
  2. Open the Email Accounts dialog on the Tools menu.
  3. Select view or Change existing email accounts and click Next.
  4. Select the new personal folders file from the Deliver new email to the following location list.
  5. Click Finish and restart Outlook.
  6. Show the folder list, using Ctrl+6 if necessary, and find the old Outbox. Delete the message.
  7. Repeat steps 2, 3, 4, and 5 to restore the original pst as the default delivery location.
  8. Show the folder list and move any new messages from the new pst to the original pst.
  9. Right click on the new folder's name and Choose Close to remove it from your profile.

Outlook express is trying to send a message with a lot of photos attached. It is unable to do this. How can I delete this message.

Hi,
If your Email is trying to send as soon as you start Outlook Express, you might try this:
Open Outlook Express and go to the top menu, click TOOLS then under that menu, OPTIONS. Under the GENERAL tab, uncheck the box for "Send and receive messages at startup", then click OK.
Close Outlook Express and start it up again. Hopefully this will allow you to delete the Email. Good luck!

Outlook express outbox is stuck in 'sending' mode

More than likely, you'll need to delete the outbox.dbx file located in the following location:

C:\Documents and Settings\***you user name***\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{***LONG SET OF NUMBERS}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

You will find the outbox.dbx in that directory.. Delete it, and you're good to go!
