Question about Sunpak Photography

For my Sunpak Travellite, i need the screw or plate that connects the entire Quick Release and Pan/Tilt assembly to the tripod's split center column

Rylee, the part you referenced is the base that goes on the camera which then is attached to the top of the tripod.

The part i need is the connection -- maybe just a screw -- that attaches that whole swivel assembly with the arm, swivel and camera base to the vertical rod that comes up out of the tripod assembly. The bottom of the swivel assembly is a round disc on the underside of which is a screw hole.

The top of the vertical rod is, of course, round but smaller than the swivel assembly with a hole on it.

Tried that already at Best Buy and a local camera shop. Are you not able to find or identify the part I am referencing?

Try buying this screw on the shop where you bought this tripod. Maybe they have a spare screw.

I have a Samsonite tripod with a quick release plate. Is it possible to get another head? one that has a screw so that cameras can be threaded onto it?

Try www.TripodQuickRelease.com for that part. There is listed the widest selection of quick releases and support more brands than any other web site I've seen. Because your tripod is not supported by the manufacturer; parts lists and pars are not available, you should measure the opening and see what other brand quick releases will work paying attention to the shape and locking mechanism. Otherwise just get another tripod.

The Pan Tilt Head cannot be removed from my Manfrotto CXPRO3

Extend the center column, there are 3 screws underneath that when unscrewed will allow the head to be tightened or loosened. The head is screwed on about 4 or 5 revolutions. You will need a flat head screwdriver. Take the center column out if you need to to be able to get to the screws.

I called tech support at 973-627-9600. Option 6 is for tripods. If you give them the model info they can send you the right part. It was $9.95 and $4 for shipping.

How to remove pan head from velbon 530, it feels very tight

I have the Hakuba HG-503MX which came with basically the same pan head you have already attached to the center column. First remove the center column from the tripod, with the pan head attached. Tighten the knob that prevents the pan head unit from rotating 360 degrees on the center column and gripping the head with one a hand and the center column near the plastic plate firmly twisting the head counter clockwise. The pan head will unscrew from the plastic plate which sits on top of the center column, given enough force. My pan head was also very tightly screwed onto the shaft, since it came already attached to the tripod. Hope this is helpful.

3030G pan tilt head

The little brass arm is supposed to be a safety switch. In one position the release lever bumps into the brass are and will not turn so the quick release willnot come off. In the other position the brass arm is away from the lever so it swings freely and the quick release plate will come off. With the brass arm open the quick release lever shoulde lock open until you push the quick releae in place. If none of this seem to work on your head, you may be missing parts.
