Acer Crystal Eye Web Cam
I haven't touched a single setting in my computer but I went to connect to a web conversation and my computer simply says "Camera not found". Its not even there in the hardware. What may have happened and how do I fix it?

I have an Aspire5520 the crystal eye used for one picture to try when I got it last week new. tried it yesterday window pops up saying it isn't working (already aware of that) said they would come up with a solution, never heard!! checked this sight - removed pictures from picture 'folder' . now it works fine thanks to your postings thank you. My webcam did the same thing. It was saying that the webcam was busy, then eventually said it didnt even detect a webcam.
All I had to do was update it. I went to Programs and saw 2 Acer Webcams listed, clicked one, and it was an update. I updated the webcam, restarted the computer, and it worked.

I could not believe it, the web cam started working again. As soon as any photographs are put into 'pictures' it stops working again. It seems too simple I know, but it works. Try it.

re: solution #9: you should post this as a problem, nnot a solution. if your computer boots at all, then you can make a copy of all the programs which are acutally installed on your acer C drive, burning them to CDs or DVDs. Then you will be able to reinstall the program that is not working. I can't remember how to do this, but it can be done. Easier, if your computer boots, try clicking on the backup and system restore after clicking on the world globe at the bottom left corner of your screen, and do a system restore back to a date when you know your computer was still working. If that doesnt work, call Acer help

look if when open acer crystal eye it says camera not found or it gives a black screen the soultion is very simple and easy uninstall all drivers or applications for cam then only install bison driver then go to control panel click on performance and maintaince choose system then click on hardware choose add a hardwre wizard it will search for hardwares than is connected to your computer but doesnt work choose for specific location then click on i will choose a hardware to install then choose an imaging device after it finishes go to my computer you will find acer crystal eye webcam double click on it then it will work

Chances are your webcam's not installed properly if it's not showing in your hardware devices. If still under warranty, get it fixed. Only other option is to buy one.

- Big Ugly is right. I updated my Vista to sp1 and it works heaps better. You can download the file manually if your not recieving that update automatically (happened to me).*I read somewhere that you should install "Vista sp1 5 languages" and then install "Vista sp1 all languages".

the most common solution is to remove or disable the hardware from device manager ,restart the computer and and reinstall or enable the driver(auto or from software support disc-depending by brand)

if your crystal eye webcam doesn't work, try this.
on your desktop right click computer select manage. when the new menu pops up, click on Device Manager, the right portion will pop up some items. Find and select Imaging device, when you click it, it should show crystal eye camera. then click un-install, click ok and restart your laptop. when the computer starts again it will automatically detect your crystal eye camera and automatically install new driver. this one works, promise. the acers' built in camera always fail, but this trick at least helps. when your camera stops working again, just repeat the steps above. its really annoying but it helps.

If you haven't tried this, then do it :) It worked for me:
1. Go to Acers website (http://acer.com/support/download.htm)
2. Choose your continent
3. Choose your computer
Then you end up on a site, where you can get all the driver downloads etc.

I have found that many people having similar problems with Web-cams in general is that Widows Vista needs to be updated to SP1 and then many of yours and everybody else's will hopefully go away. The computer will even boot faster in most cases...

my webcam has been working when I use it with yahoo messenger until yesterday I saw an error message saying not connected. when I reboot my laptop then reconnected to yahoo messenger, said it was connected but I can see a black image/background, I went to YM help and tried to change the camera source but it only showed me USB video device on the drop down button. pls help me.thanks!

I have the Aspire 4530. Brand new out the box and no webcam. Can't see it in hardware and I've unistalled and reinstalled various drivers for the Bison and Suyin cameras. When I open Crystal Eye I get a dark screen and the settings (gear symbol) does nothing.

i have a Acer travelmate 6592 laptop with a built in cystal eye webcam. it used to work fine on my other account but i had to create a new account due to my old one not logging me in. Now i cannot find the webcam option underneath anything anymore not even on all programs, it is really starting to bug me!! i went on a site called www.cameroid.com and it said 'webcam not found' and the box is ticked on windows live messenger to allow people to see i have a webcam but it just doesnt appear!! PLEASE HELP!!!

I've been having web cam conversation on MSN with my friends for over 3 months..it used to work fine....My msn version is the same and i did not change any settings in my computer...now it says it cannot detect the web cam.... i also did not drop it ....

I have a Acer laptop and my webcam used to work on my old account, but due to the system failing to log me onto my account i had to create a new one, since then my webcam doesnt show up on any of the programs or on msn conversations even though the box is ticked to allow others to see i have a webcam, yet it still doesnt show up. I used to use this website : www.cameroid.com .....which allows you to take pictures with your webcam, yet it comes up with 'you dont appear to have a webcam' ...... Other people who have had the same problem with their webcam said about removing all photos from the photos section into documents, but that hasn't worked for me. Please Help!!!!

I have an intermittend problem with my Acer "Crystal Eye" software. I purchased an Acer Aspire 5520 laptop about a month ago, and I had no problems with the "Crystal Eye" software whatsoever. I then installed a Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 Webcam, which ran without any difficulty in parallel with the Crystal Eye.
I then downloaded Yahoo! Messenger, and my problems began. Whenever Yahoo! Instant Messenger is running, the system refuses to recognize the "Crystal Eye" software / hardware, and I obtain a blank screen when I invoke this tool. The Logitech QuickCam continues to function, however, regardless of whether Yahoo! IM is running.
Does anybody have a solution that he or she can pass on to me? This problem is a major irritant and is driving me crazy.

My webcam on my acer notebook laptop has been working fine since i got it back in february, but all of a sudden, when i went to use it this evening, it wouldnt work - it kept saying camera not found, yet all the software on my laptop for it is still installed and i havent touched a single setting on my laptop. I don't understand what's happened to it? I was taking photos with my girlfriend yesterday afternoon using my laptop's webcam and it was working fine.

i often use acer crystal eye webcam just to take pictures...i too am told 'camera busy' or 'camera not found' i cant have a video conversation either...? i havent touched any settings...strangely though...it works occasionally, but more often than not i am dissapointed and it doesnt work

I have the same problem again with my Acer TravelMate 6592G laptop. The Crystal Eye webcam stopped working again. It stopped working a previous time as well and I took it back to Acer head office. Turns out that the actual camera was broken and luckily they replaced it for me because it has a three year guarantee on the hardware (I think), but low and behold, I got somebody to update Vista to the latest release. He had to reinstall everything basically since there were so many errors on my laptop, and now it's not working again. The problem with Acer is that they take extremely long to do services. The last time I took my laptop in there it took them 21 days to repair, since they had to wait for spares from overseas. I'm in South Africa and this is really frustrating. :-(

First my error was 'camera busy' then (I have no idea what I did) it worked for a short time, now it is not working with the error 'camera not found'.This is driving me crazy - I have tried moving all my pictures to documents as many have suggested - I have also tried 'exon33's advice about Acer E Recovery - but to no avail. I recently bought an acer aspire 7520 and had the same problem. I even contacted acer and the place I purchased it. No one could help me. I even reset the original settings which deleted everything I had on it. I am so impressed that just moving the pictures from the picture file to my documents file enabled my camera. Thank-you! Thank-you! I attend school on line and live off of my computer. I also had a problem of my cursor jumping. Did anyone else? Oh I tried the downloads they suggested first to no avail.

all this problems are responsibilty by ACER COMPANY... they are releasing all of this product with out proper testing and analyzing... almost of our problem is about the camera, until now why they didnt response to our problems.. i was already try and try to re install the drivers and utilities for the camera but nothing happen, sometimes the camera are running properly but sometimes doesnt work.. WE NEED A NEW DRIVER AND UTILITIES HERE.. then delete the first in ACER WEBSITE..

whenever I click on the crystal eye webcam icon, I recieve a message saying "camera not found". "PnPDriverInstallError" is the problem event name, and there has been no solutions sent. what can I do?

the trick of removing everything from "C:\Users\user\Pictures" is simply not working.it still crashes can someone out there help me out.

its amazing how the simple solution works after reinstalling and restarting and still not working i see solution #3 and do it and what happens the webcam works again

hey there, i just recieved my laptop for christmas and i havent touched a single thing and it says that itn will notify me when their is a solution... and that it has stopped working.. why is this :(

acer orbi cam has stoped working. a problem caused program to stop woking correctly.windows will close program notify you if solution is avalible

I haven't touched a single setting in my computer but I went to connect to a web conversation and my computer simply says "Camera not found". Its not even there in the hardware. What may have happened and how do I fix it?

HI i have a Acer Travel Mate 5320 which is less than one month old. When i tried to invite some one to view my webcam it says Camera not found. I cannot even find it when i go to Control Panel.
