Sometimes on the base of the turntable (under side) there are two presets one for the 45 speed and one for the 33. They might be hidden under a label or something. You might even have to go inside to find them. Anyway a small flat head screwdriver inserted in it should adjust the speed. You might have to work out which controls 33 speed. And of course if it is below you will have to figure out how to adjust it with a record playing. "Get out and get under!!!!" as they said about cars!

How do you set the speeds are not set right on the turntable? Copied a 33 1/3 record and it sounded like the chipmunks.

I'll assume the record played like Chipmunks as well? I believe this is a belt driven turntable. The belt is probably riding over the top ridge of the pulley. Get to the area where the belt is accessible. I think you'll see I'm right. If so, just push the belt back down, and revolve the platter, by hand, 3 or 4 times. Once that's done, check the belt to make sure it is still riding in the middle of the pulley.

Reel recorder

The A4070G can record in each direction but has a switch that needs to change to switch the heads. This must be stuck after all this time and so the deck needs service. They are not easy unit to work on. I have one in my shop now. The bad news is that they use combo record and erase Ferrite heads that can not be sourced anymore.
I am very familiar with this model as I worked at Teac and fixed many of them.

AFTER adjusting the speed setting to 33, all the records are playing too fast, they sound like chipmunks. I tried all three settings and while each speed is different from each other they all seem to be...

If it says your speed setting in on 33, than you have a problem with the speed control inside of the turntable, there is not much you can do in that area. 33 is the slowest speed too, so it seems like it is stuck on 45 or 78. Call Teac if you are still under warranty.

My Teac sl-a100 record player sounds like a chipmunk

hi,
somewhere on that player is a switch for 78-45-33 rpm the speed switch look up around by the tone arm above by where the record goes, it may not be on the front. switch it to the correct record you have 45's are small. 78's are medium and 33rpms are the big records..

I have a teac 3340 reel to reel recorder and believe it can only function in 2 speeds 7 1/2 ips and 15 ips. I have many reel to reel recordings that are 3 3/4 ips. Is there an adapter or gadget I can use...

In short, no. if you look closely you will see the Teac 3340 has a much larger/thicker capstan shaft than other Teac reel decks. This feature allows the faster tape speeds...7 1/2 and 15 ips. In order to slow down the Teac 3340 you would have to change the flywheel to one from another deck that was made to run at 3 3/4 and 7 1/2. Which is possible but some work..plus you would have to find a slower speed flywheel from another Teac deck. Also to maintain performance, the bias and Eq positions for the slower speeds would have to be readjusted from 7 1/2 and 15.

Turntable runs a bit too fast, on any setting i put it on, and i dont know what to do about it. its making everything start to sound like the chipmunks. thanks for the help! Sierra

LOL, The Chipmunks rock!..j/k

Sounds your player isn't reconizing your settings, therefore the switch that controls them could be shot.

Firstly consult the troubleshooting section of your manual

If you have have no manual to reference, check this site for a downloadable one.

If still no, then visit the Teac home page and follow the support/troubleshooting/customer service links there.

There also you will find listings for any authorized repair shops in your area where you can have it looked at and a new switch installed, should that indeed be the issue.

Conversely to that, call the toll free number you will find in your manual or on their website for assistance.

Wishing you luck and... no more Chipmunks...

Will not drop 45's

I think the spindle is broke or stuck in some way! if you have another one try that! and if you dont you may be able to use those little plastic adapter thingys and place them on the 45s and try that !
It sounds to me like the spindle is sticking and is pulling the turntable belt and slowing it down!
I would look for a new/used spindle
I think this will fix ya!
