Problem for Sony VAIO® VGN-N320E PC Notebook

My sony vaio vgn-n320e is not playing cd's.

My sony vaio vgn-n320e is not playing cd's. I deleted the upper and lowers in my registry so the dvd drive is showing up. It plays dvds but doesn't play cd's. It either doesn't recognize them or considers them blank cd's. Please help
