Example, i pressed/typed 'y' but 'm' appears
Sounds like the wheel is out of alignment. I had this problem with the one I recently purchased for my daughter. Release the tension on the ribbon and head. Pull the wheel cartridge out and line up the letters. Put the wheel back and reapply tension. Repeat until it is aligned. Took me a couple tries to get it working, but its working and seems to be stable.
