Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer

Won't shut off machine turns off after a few seconds

The machine kept filling with hot water. It flooded the Laundry room. After reading it could be a selenoid or clogged screen I disconnected the hot water hose until my husband could get to pulling it out and repairing it. Now the cold water keeps running when the machine is on and the machine shuts off after just a few seconds. If I turn the water off at the supply the machine keeps running.

You may have a burnt motor. This is usually caused by a clog in the pump. Sometimes small items such as socks find its way to the pump. It could also be the timer itself. If there is a burning smell when that happend it is probably the motor.

Amana top load washer overfills with hot water and wont stop unless you shut supply off. NTW5400TQ1

Okay you say only hot water if you unplug does water still come in if so bad inlet valve if it does it on both then the pressure switch is bad or there is a hole in the tube that goes from tub to pressure switch

A washing mashine that works but does not heat water

Check your washer inlet valve. If it is sticking shut, (I just had one that stuck open and flooded the laundry room), it will not let any hot water into the tub. To test: set the washer to fill with hot water if all you still get is very little cold water or no water at all the inlet valve or the circuit board itself may be to blame. I have added a pic of a GE inlet valve for an example. They are generally not hard to replace with a few simple hand tools (screwdriver, pliers, nut drivers or sockets). Last one I bought and replaced (in about 20 mins) cost around $20. Where you hook up your hoses is one end of the inlet valve. dc58c087-b478-4944-8fab-5fcfce5312e3.jpg

Water sensor not working. Started a load of Laundry and the water did not shut off therefore flooding my whole Laundry room. How can I fix this myself?

Hello,

Their are 2 possibilites causing it to overflow

1) the water inlet valve that the hoses from the house plumbing attach to is sticking open, when it sticks it will stick open regardless if thier is power to the machine or not,so to determine if that is the problem, start the washer and quickly unplug or turn off circuit breaker ,if the water continues to fill, that valve is sticking,it is what to replaced

2) the water level switch is defective,do the same as far as starting it,if the fill stops when power disconected it's the water level switch that is in need of replacement

Good luck, i hope this helps

I have a HE3 and I would like to know why it had water in it this morning when I went to put laundry in it?

The first possibility is the water valve in the machine is not sealing and it dripped water through the valve into the machine since you last used it.(there are four solenoids on a mixing valve) Something may have lodged, valve may be going, may go away, may get worse, flood laundry room in rare cases.(suggest turning off the hot and cold water house lines between use at the shutoff where washer is connected)

Second is the pump did not pump out the water, but the clothes would not have spun out, not very likely by your description of problem .

Lastly low water pressure on your house line may have affected the valve shutting off, but this is also rare, again, shut off water to unit between use at house supply lines.(hot and cold)
good luck

Water not shutting off to begin wash cycle flooded room

Probably one of the water cut off solenoids not shutting off.
Do you use both hot AND cold water?
Try using only cold water first. If that works, maybe hot water solenoid is faulty.
Next, connect cold water to the HOT inlet, and try it again. This means you have now tried each of the solenoids, and maybe identified which one is faulty (assuming thats the problem!). If water wont cut off after trying this, the problem will be with whatever level sensing device it has, but I am not familiar with the model you have, so cant help there. Good luck.

Started a new load of wash and water never shut off flooding room

you can check for a broken/cracked/ dettached plastic hose leading from the back left side of tub to the pressure switch under the main console. usuall problem is it dry rots and cracks, or comes loose after shaking/vibrating,
