New pool pump motor is rattling

This really sounds like a motor going out. I would take it to a motor shop and have them check the bearings.

Low flow rate

You probably have debris clogged in the impeller. The pump has to be opened to clean or repair the impeller.

Our centurion pool pump motor Model B128 replaced less than 1 year ago. Pool company has to replace the impeller twice. Is this common? I believe the pool co sold and installed a used pump instead

Broken impellers generally are not caused by the pump's motor. Impellers usually fail due to back pressure from the filter when the pump shuts off. Air in the filter is compressed while the motor runs, on your pump 12-15 psi. or a bit higher.

When the motor shuts off that compressed air forces water back to the pump, sometimes with enough force to loosen (or completely throw off) the impeller. If the impeller is loose when the pump starts up again it will instantly re-thread the impeller and strip out the threads.

Check to see if you have a suction leak. After the pump has turned on, bleed the air out from the air relief valve on top of the filter. After the pump has run for a while open the air relief valve and see if air comes out. There should be no air, or just a little.

I have seen this back pressure strong enough to blow the skimmer basket up onto the deck.

What make and model of pump and filter do you have?

Impeller in intex model 635 broken where can I buy replacement part?

A late answer but it might help future Intex impleller sufferers... they do not sell replacement parts and you won't find any impellers sold separately anywhere on the planet. I've had 1 Intex pool and 3 Intex filter pumps in 3 years. Last week the 3rd pump's impeller broke as well. I shan't buy their products again.

Pentair Whisper Flow 2hp pump appears to not **** as much water as before. Filter basket recently broke and allowed small leaves to get sucked up by the motor. Could this be the reason for the loss of...

Yes, If the debris you speak of got past the filter basket, it can clog the impeller. If the impeller is clogged, it wont pump water. Simply remove the 6 bolts on the pump end, then remove the diffuser with a 3/32 hex wrench, then clean the impeller. Its very easy, and very important that this get done every 6 months in an outdoor pool with trees surrounding it.

Also, the filter basket should last a long time, if this is breaking on you, make sure your water chemistry is in check. Agressive water can cause lots of damage and cost lots of money.

If you still have bad flow after this fix, replace the shaft seal.

Pump not taking prime. I have a lot of pine leaves or nettles some of which may have got past the strainer. after it took prime it did not seem to have good flow,.

This is indictive of a clogged impeller or blown shaft seal or possibly both.
To clean out the impeller, simply removing the 8 securing bolt that hold the wet end against the seal plate and motor housing. Then remove the diffuser assembley. You should now have access to the impeller. Remove any debris from inside the impeller and impeller cage.
Reassemble , fill with water, and try to reprime.
If prime still fails, take apart again and remove impeller to replace the shaft seal.
1. Make sure the filter connected to this pump is clean and not causing the problem before following these instructions.
2. Here is the link to the exploded parts diagram for easy reference to part names. It is also good to look at previous to dissassembley so that you have a good understanding of what is where.

Stopped running

I would start by looking at the impeller to make sure that it is not jammed. With most of these pool filters, they are not designed for long term use. They are mass produced and not very well made because they are usually used with inflatable/temporary pools. You are probably going to have to replace the filter, unfortunately.

My pump pressure is 10psi i cleaned the de filters they seem fine i have good floe out of my jets but when i hook the pool cleaner up pressure drops to almost nothing. could my impeller be the problem

The pressure you are reading is the pressure in the filter tank as water is pumped though it. When the filter is freshly charged, 9 PSI is a good pressure.

As the filter removes particles from the water the filter gets "dirty" -- it takes more pressure to push the water through it thus raising the PSI.

I think you are viewing this in reverse. Low filter pressure is "good" (as long as it stays above 8 PSI) -- as the filter cleans the water the PSI will increase -- when it gets to 15-20 PSI it needs to be back-washed and recharged.

The pressure drops when the pool cleaner is connected because pool cleaners always pull in air (in varying amounts) because of all the hose connections. This causes your filter/tank pressure to drop.

Do i have the right size pump for my 10,000 +/- inground pool

the cartridge element system you have is designed to be used for at least two seasons before needing to replace the elements. You are correct thinking that the pressure going through the filter is causing the problems with the cleaner.
if you take the elements out of the filter and see if cleaner works that will show you whether or not it is time to change the filter elements. That filter is very expensive to replace. cheaper to just change the elements.
