I tried everything and this is what solved the problem of the brush not turning and no suction on the brush area. I took off the lid where the roller brush is and cleaned the sided of the roller brush, it was frozen tightly from HAIR. Used a small knife to get it all. AI pulled out all that hair and now it works!! yay!!

Check the belt on the side of beater brush take out screws in the bottom lift up plate and check the belt it either to loose or to tight or broke. You have to replace them every so offend.

Vacuum works, but makes an irritating rattling noise whenever I use it. Both speeds. There is not debris in the blade that I can see when I remove the handle and turn the brush while looking into motor...

There are moving parts that are likely the culprit. Start by examining the brush roll and make sure it is not loose or to see if the brush roll is not being held tightly in place. If it is loose it will rattle around.

Sebo upright barged hoover- good suction using hose, brush wont turn, sounds fine when running, nasty wineing noise when stopping?? help!! i love my hoover, have checked for bolckages....

The real clue seems to be the brush is not turning, a bad belt is possible or a blockage at that head, if you cannot get the brush moving the rest does not matter.

My brush roller stopped spinning so I had to take it off and clean out all the hair that had gotten wound around it. I replaces it and now it is make a lound noise, but only when the brush is on. Could it...

Could very well be the belt. When cleaning the brush it is a good idea to add some WD40 at the ends where the plastic pieces are that hold the brush in the vacuum. The brush needs to be able to move freely around the plastic pieces. Add the WD40 and rotate the plastic pieces around the brush until they move freely. Reassemble making sure the belt is put in correctly so the brush moves in the right direction.

As far as the roller brush goes, yes, it does need to be cleaned. Follow the directions to remove it and clean as best you can of all debris. On both ends of the roller brush there will be two "holders" of sort that connect the brush to the frame of the vacuum. These need to be able to turn freely around the brush. Clean them as best you can and spray some WD40 in between the roller and both the holders. Work the holders around by hand to be sure they move freely. I would also check to see if your belts are snug.
Please let me know if this does not help solve your problems. Paul

The belt no longer turns the brush.

If the noise creates a burning smell of rubber the belt is stretched which causes no movement to the brush. Some times it will not smell so bad because of the material it is made from. I advise to open the brush housing and look at the belt. It should be installed very snug. If it moves by hand or by prying it to move while holding the roller brush you will need a new belt
